Tranquil, spacious, rural farmhouse but with good access to Cockermouth, Keswick, Carlisle, & West Coast. Secure storage for bikes, canoes etc and room for hobbies such as home brewing, etc. Loads of parking.
We are looking for the right people to share & enjoy this old farmhouse and who understand & enjoy a more laid back and outdoors lifestyle while being competent & self reliant.
There are three good sized double rooms available (one huge) all large enough for, and furnished with, double bed, wardrobe, drawers, desk etc (tv can be provided if required) in a large, rambling farmhouse dating from the 17th century with spectacular views. The largest bedroom also has sink, settee or armchair & coffee table. Tea making facilities can be provided in every room.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are NOT modern but very comfortable (central heating, decent beds etc) so if you're looking for B&Q furnishings this not for you. There are 3 toilets in total inside the house including 1 bathroom, 1 shower room and an additional outside loo.
As well as your private bedroom there is a large shared living room with log fire, settee, armchairs, dining table etc (we will retain a smaller living room for family) a large shared farmhouse kitchen with tv, table, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, 4 slice toaster, usual cupboards etc, boot room, drying room, some barn space to share, gardens to front & rear, bbq & possibility of share of produce from the orchard, veg garden & free range chickens. A separate large fridge/freezer is provided for the 3 sharers.
SMOKING - there are 2 smokers in the house and we smoke in the retained separate living room or outside so the house does not smell strongly of smoke and NO SMOKING is permitted upstairs. If you are a smoker we can offer an adjoining barn to smoke in (accessed from the house) but smoking upstairs is not on in any way.
The rooms are available as three of our 4 sons have recently left home.
Talking to the chickens and building dams is optional.
“It is a lovely place to come home to at the end of the day.”
“One of the best things about this place is you can get a really good night’s kip.”
Sorry, the room is no longer available
