Rooms comprise:

A double bedroom, furnished with comfortable double-bed in hand-made wrought iron from Liberty, plus well-made bookshelves. The style is feminine and retro, with flamingo print Cole & Son wall-paper, painted floor-boards, sheepskin rugs, and an original fireplace.

The bedroom is south-facing, so bright and sunny and peaceful as it overlooks gardens. If you require a desk, there is one you may use on the first floor landing. It is lovely but not a large room, so I’m also offering the room next door as your own dressing/sitting room.

The first floor bathroom , next to your bedroom, is also for your sole use. There is a shower over the full size bath. The fittings are all new and immaculate.

The private dressing/sitting room is
retro heaven – grey walls, painted boards, vintage furniture and lighting from Labour & Wait, together with your own flat-screen TV. There is a chest of drawers and mirror, another on the landing if you need it, and large armoire wardrobe.

The owner
I live here with my well-behaved 11 year old daughter, and our cat. I formerly worked in publishing and now split my time between re-training and freelancing, working from home. I'm quite often studying in the evenings and weekends, so definitely somewhere to relax rather than a party house.

We go away during some of the school holidays and my daughter is away every other weekend. We hope you would stay for a while, and would make you very welcome.

Suitable for
Someone who has perhaps out-grown a house share, and is looking for more privacy – a peaceful retreat after a busy day in the city. Or, someone making a return to renting having owned their own home. This is a family home, and something of a haven. I'm looking for someone happy to be considerate of the house and us, friendly and in return hope you may find a really happy place to live. Sorry, not suitable for couples or overnight guests.

Location
The house is on a quiet residential road, with free street parking, friendly neighbours and good transport links in every direction. You could drive to any of the nearby stations in minutes and park nearby free of charge all day, or there are buses at the end of the road to take you East Dulwich (Zone 2, London Bridge 10 mins), or West Dulwich (Victoria 10 mins) in 10 minutes, or a 5 minute bus journey to Honour Oak takes you to the smart new East London line for Canada Water (15 mins) for Canary Wharf less for the Jubilee line, and it’s a brilliant way to Shoreditch for Columbia Road Flower Market on a Sunday.

East Dulwich itself is perfect for weekend relaxation, with all of the boutiques and bars of North Cross Road and Lordship Lane a 10 minute walk down the hill, where you’ll also find the nicely renovated East Dulwich Leisure Centre for a swim and the gym. The gorgeous East Dulwich Picture House is a highlight. There's a popular organic butchers with the best sausages, rumoured to be an M&S food hall soon to arrive, great wine merchant and Franca Manca for sour dough pizza.

There are parks at either end of the road for runners, or an onward stroll through Dulwich Park takes you to the Dulwich Picture Gallery, twenty minutes from our front door. There is a useful mini Co-operative and dry-cleaners an 8 minute walk away, the huge Sainsbury’s at Dog Kennel Hill is easily accessible by car or by the P13 which stops at the end of the road.
