I’m looking for someone (perhaps a postgrad or medic) to share my homely family-owned flat in Heaton with while I’m away studying a Masters in London.

I currently live alone in this 2 bed upstairs flat and am keen to find someone to share with/lodge who would appreciate the space and take loving care of it when I’m not there. I’d like the freedom to come back to Newcastle, mainly in the holidays I expect, so I’m hoping this might be a good set up for someone maybe in a similar position who needs the space but doesn’t mind me popping up now and then!

During term time I imagine you’d pretty much get sole use of the flat, which is reflected in the price of £600pm, however it’s a great deal for the whole property & the area as all bills (which are £120pm - energy/water/council tax/broadband/tv licence) are included, so the rent itself is £480pm. During any time we’d be sharing the flat, or perhaps if in the holidays I was there and you weren’t, the bills would be split between us accordingly and would be reimbursed to you - the details of which we can arrange together.

This upstairs flat comprises of:
-2 double bedrooms - I’ll be in the smaller one
-Dining Room/Study (also great place to hang washing and do yoga!)
-Living Room (TV & Now TV box included)
-Bathroom
-Kitchen (fridge, freezer, washing machine, gas oven, microwave, )
-Back yard with table & 2 chairs (if you’re a better gardener than me then feel free to revive/replace my pots! It’s a lovely sunny spot!)

The flat has been recently decorated (your room being the final one, it is being done as we speak and will be a very light grey with a dark grey feature wall, new drawers (if the ones pictured are a bit too girly!) & new bedside table. It also has a massive wardrobe and slim white Ikea shelving unit), the flat is super bright & sunny, and is in a really great position, it’s unique in that you don’t have neighbours across the road so there’s lots of light in the bedroom and more privacy. The street is only 3-4mins walk to Chillingham Road which has shops, cafes & restaurants - a new one seems to open every month! There’s a micro brewery, and two pubs at each end of Chilli Rd, with even more eateries to choose from on Heaton Road. There are two parks nearby - Iris Brickfield just a few mins away and the beautiful Heaton Park, Armstrong Park and Jesmond Dene just 10mins walk away. Heaton’s a great place to live, loads to do and it’s so close to the city centre. It’s got a real community vibe to it, everyone loves living there and it shows. It’s a good mix of bohemian artists, young professionals, families, students and older residents.

Transport:
Bus stops are just 3mins and 5mins walk away with buses every 10mins into town which takes 15mins. The metro is about 10mins walk away which takes you into town or out to the coast. There is on street parking outside or in the community centre car park across the road, the coast is only 15-20mins drive away and the Silverlink retail park & B&Q 10mins drive down the coast road. There is a small retail park and big Asda a few mins drive up Chilli Rd and a big Sainsbury’s and The Gym just 5mins the other way.

About me:
I’m a 37yr old actor, born and bred in the North East, I’m friendly, stupid, tidy and very handy round the flat. I like all the usuals - box set binges, pizza, trying to go to the gym and yoga, theatre & arts galleries (of which before Covid there was loads of in town), I’m not the best cook but I have a bash, I love going out with mates in the Ouseburn (a lush arty community of bars & music venues in the valley, really close to Heaton) and in town. My parents live in High Heaton so are around if anything goes wrong in the flat, but I’ll always be on call too. I do like my own space to decompress, so I’m not demanding on people’s time, but it’s nice to have someone friendly and nice to share a home with and put the world to rights over some wine or binge Netflix hungover!

If this all sounds like a set up that would be mutually beneficial then get in touch and if I think we might fit we can arrange a video call. As it’s got to be a good fit for both of us I’ll be talking to a few people. Thanks!
