From Phil, recently moved to China, lived here for two lengthy periods: “I stayed here for a number of cumulative years. I was comfortable; it’s the type of place where you feel happy treating it as home.

“There is a nice balance between personal space and being social with housemates. It’s quite easy to do both. On the social side, my housemates and I often ate out (local Turkish food is awesome) and cooked for each other. Plenty of film-watching and occasional barbecues and poker games. A substantial Christmas dinner was guaranteed each year, in addition to Burns’ Night, which is celebrated properly (addressing the haggis, whisky, toast to the lassies etc.). There’s also a sense of shared humour. It seems like a small thing but really isn’t.

“The house feels like a place where you’d want to live rather than merely a place to rent. The interior is fresh, and it has all the mod cons. The area has all the amenities you’d need (as in I genuinely can’t think of what you’d need to travel to obtain; everything is walking distance). Any needed repairs or maintenance were always done quickly.

“All in all, it’s a really good place to live. Very much missing the house already. My time there was pleasant, comfortable and a lot of fun. It's a most welcoming and relaxed place. Jezz is a very reasonable and diligent landlord and is great to live with. He's also extremely generous. I've been very well fed and watered on countless occasions and, as a bonus have also learned a little cooking myself.

"It's a household of adults who all work and this is reflected in the atmosphere. It's mostly quiet, but not formal, and also very social. It differs from what one might call a student house. We like a drink and do go out sometimes, but the foremost aspect is that of consideration. There's no intrusive music or splitting hairs over who pays for which household items. It simply, well 'adult'.

"The living room is a genuine room for living. It's where we sit, enjoy the TV's showings, share food and drink, comment on life as we see it and try to beat each other in card and board games.

"The house is equipped with all that one might need. The water is hot. The internet is fast. The heating works well. The local area has all essential amenities.

"It's a good place and I'll miss it."

From Alex, another former lodger, he’s lived here three different times: "Living with Jezz is an absolute pleasure. Kind and considerate with a great sense of humour, Jezz is extremely accommodating, doing his utmost to make you feel it's your home just as much as his. He consistently takes care of the finer details and takes his responsibilities as a landlord very seriously. The property itself is fantastic for the price: cosy and welcoming, it's comfortable, clean and warm with everything and more than you could want. Situated close to all local amenities including supermarkets and travel services, it’s also within quick and easy reach of central London. As an area to live in, Edmonton is pleasant and quiet. It may appear too good to be true, but it is genuinely a great little place with a fine host. Anyone would be fortunate to stay here. Highly recommended!"

"I'm really happy I was able to live here for the time I did, and I will definitely miss my room, the house and all the fun times we shared." Andrew.

Hi, thanks for reading my ad. I'm looking for a friendly house-mate to join me and my other friendly lodgers in my lovely house. We're easy-going professionals with a broad range of interests; theatre, cinema, eating out, cooking, wine, pubs, bars, poker, board games, travel.

I've happily let rooms to lodgers for many years, all of whom have moved on due to working or studying elsewhere and many of whom remain friends. We've all had and enjoyed our own space but have often shared dinner and drinks together, celebrating Christmas and Burns Night, had BBQs in the garden, visited local restaurants or had poker nights, day trips out etc.

Although it's a good-sized room I'm not looking to let the room to a couple or to two single people. Strictly non-smokers only please.

Please say a little about yourself, what you do for work, activities you enjoy in your spare time, interests etc when replying to the ad. As you can see, lots of my former lodgers were very happy to leave reviews from their time living here, and you'll get to meet the current lodgers if you come for a viewing and can ask them anything you like :-)

Liam says: "This place is fantastic! It's a lovely, quiet area, really close to town, and my room was wonderfully clean and bright. Jezz is also absolutely lovely."

Lisa says: "The house is gorgeous. It has everything you would ever need. Jezz is a very lovely person to live with. Guaranteed you will enjoy your stay at the house!"

Dino: "Friendly & welcoming. Fastidious and meticulous, his home is scrupulously clean and highly organised. Interesting and vibrant area, with easy access to bus and train."

Joe: "Had great time! Jezz is amazing as he was really helpful before arrival as well as during stay. I can't imagine a better landlord than Jezz. I would definitely recommend this house."

Charmaine: "if you or someone you know is after a great, communal, friendly and warm (in both senses of the word!) place to call home, then be sure not to miss out!"

From Joe (went to work in the Philippines) "The landlord was very welcoming, and I was instantly made to feel completely at home. It's a nice place to unwind.

"In general, the atmosphere is friendly but laid back; I was able to enjoy a drink with my housemates whilst watching TV, a film or playing a video game, but I was also able to retreat to my room to concentrate on working. Periodically, we also visited local restaurants, and played board games or poker, but the landlord is very flexible, and will endeavour to make you feel welcome without obligation, and in a manner that suits your schedule.

"I would definitely recommend this house to potential suitors. I really enjoyed my time there."

From Liam (went to study in Budapest) "a really nice bedroom available for one lucky person. Everything is really kept in very good condition. It's a really great home, perfect for my needs, and I'm sad to be moving out.

"In terms of transport, it's been really convenient. I've been working in the City and have had a really excellent commute of just 30 minutes door-to-door.

"Your new housemates are absolutely lovely! The landlord extraordinaire is a man of many talents. He can sing, cook, play piano, and host really excellent dinner parties - my first experience of Burns Night was a really exceptional evening. He has kept the rent at a very reasonable rate, and is extremely responsive whenever anything needs to be sorted, etc.

"It's a really great atmosphere: chilled-out, relaxed, and friendly. Everyone has their own space, but every few weeks we get together for a meal, film night, or even play a boardgame together. It's been great fun - and I will be coming back to visit!"

From Charmaine (now in Singapore) "Jezz is the kindest landlord you'll ever meet! He's extremely easy-going and has never failed to go out of his way to make you feel special. See, when I first moved in, the room only came with a chest of drawers (which obviously posed a teensy problemo per moi as I happen to own a small number of dresses). So, we ventured out to the nearby IKEA and got me the various bits and bobs and by the time I got home from my weekend rendezvous, the wooden boards had miraculously jumped out of their flat-packs and became a real wardrobe!

"So, if you or someone you know is after a great, communal, friendly and warm (in both senses of the word!) place to call home, then be sure not to miss out!"
