This room with bonus cat is available from June 2024. The move in date is flexible, depending on circumstances.
It's a lovely furnished double room in a quiet house in Iffley Borders (OX4 4JE). The house is a 1930's end-of-terrace that retains a lot of its original character.
I have a sweet elderly rescue cat and so I'm looking for a housemate who would be happy to feed and medicate her, and empty her cat tray when I'm away. These jobs aren't time-consuming and they will surely earn you lap-time with her! So this is a good house for cat-lovers.
The kitchen/diner, living room, and bathroom are shared only with me when I am around. I go away a lot as my mother who requires care lives in Germany and the company that I do technical translation for is also based there. This means that you would virtually have the house to yourself a lot of the time.
The other occupant is a very nice and considerate handyman who lives in a self-contained unit on the top floor. I would describe the vibe of the house as a mature, considerate, peaceful and friendly share where we lead our own lives and have a good chat when we bump into each other.
The rent includes everything - gas, electricity, water, fast fibre broadband, TV license, council tax and of course use of the washing machine.
There are big front and back gardens which I have been slowly reclaiming from the brambles. The back garden has a south facing patio, a rudimentary bike shelter and the perfect spot for a hammock between two apple trees.
The house is towards the southern end of Iffley Road handy for the ring road and science park, a 15 minute walk from the river and a 15 minute cycle ride to the town centre. There is also a bus stop nearby (10 minutes into town on the #3) and street parking is free and unrestricted. There is a parade of shops with a cafe, a Coop supermarket and a community centre a short walk away.
