Available for rent is a room in the student dormitory “Student Roost – Portsbourgh Court”. The room is part of a five room flatshare. Each room has its own bathroom, only the kitchen is shared by the 5 rooms. The room and ensuite bathroom are a good size for student accommodation (18 m2). The room includes a ¾ bed (small double, 110 cm) and the typical wardrobe, table, office chair etc (see photos). The bathroom has everything you need as well, including a shower of course. The kitchen is very spacious and you will share it with my 4 flatmates – Gary, Abdul, Mike and Toufiq. Gary studies theology, Mike computer science, Abdul dentistry and Toufiq architecture. Quite a mix! All are quite busy with uni generally, but there’s always time for a chat in the kitchen. There is also a communal space available (see photos).
I lived in this room for three months now and have absolutely nothing negative to say about it. It’s a perfect student dormitory accommodation! Unfortunately, I will be moving in together with a friend, that is why I am looking for someone to take over the room. The tenancy contract runs until the 11th July but is extendable. The price of 179£ per week includes all bills (electricity, water, wifi, etc.). The staff in the student dormitory are incredibly lovely people, they are always there to help you with anything, whatever it is, even if just for a small chat!
The location of the flat is superb. Central university premises are all easily reachable by foot: 10 min to George Square Campus including main library, 1 min to Art College of Edinburgh. There is a Sainsbury’s supermarket right at the next corner (1 min) and a wide range of shops in under 5 minutes walking distance (Chinese supermarket, organic supermarket, pharmacy, drug store, charity shops, loads of bakeries, cafés and restaurants etc.). <5 minutes walking distance to the Meadows (big green park).
Important for Edinburgh: Heating is not an issue, it doesn’t get cold due to the heat of surrounding rooms. I only had to turn on the heater twice now and it worked without any issue. Nice and warm flat!
Time of moving in is flexible for now – either 17th or 18th December, or in the beginning of January (flexible, we can discuss this further if you’re interested).
