Hi all,
The full spiel is below but for those of us on the move who want the TL: DR :
I've got a double bedroom in a lovely cosy wee flat, fully furnished, freeing up at the end of Sept. It's a great location for subway access and parks and chill out areas. The cost quoted above covers rent and all bills (inc council tax). Anyone is welcome - no preference with age or gender or professional/student or any of that - though as CTax is part of it a professional may be more suitable - just someone chill and nice.
Happy to chat out any questions or issues anyone may have!
Cheers
Ryan
And for those of us who love a read here is the spiel:
I have a lovely double room available from October as my current great flatmate is abandoning me to go live with one of his other pals. Which not nearly as fun as my previous previous flatmate who abandoned me to run off with his boyfriend and be happy and have a really nice and wholesome time.
I've used "abandoned" too many times for there not to be something subliminal here.
The Flat
The flat is really warm and cosy and the neighbours are lovely (someone held the door for me one time).
It's on Otago Street and is less than five mins from Kelvingrove Park, aka it's lovely in the summer - it's lovely in the winter too there's just more layers involved. It's also 5 mins from Kelvinbridge subway station, so you can be the centre of town in under 15 minutes - unless you miss the dang thing in which case it's 20. We're also 5ish minutes from the start of the main Glasgow University campus; 10 mins from Byres Road & Ashton Lane. There's a few options for supermarkets ie a Co-op (if you want ripped off) at the end of the road; a Tesco maybe 10ish mins walk up Great Western Rd; a LIDL maybe 15mins away on Maryhill side; and then whatever other shops are the other way on Byres Rd. The street itself is pretty quiet with mostly foot traffic; there will be a few cars (also there's parking but you'd need a permit - I've never actually looked into this as I don't have a car so I don't know how much it is); and the occasional midnight wanderer on his way back from the pub who gives us a wee serenade. Sadly you will likely not get the full benefit of this as my room is the one that faces the street whereas yours faces the gardens - a tragedy, I know, but I can try to replicate it upon request.
The flat itself comprises two double bedrooms; a kitchen complete with a slow cooker; a lovely big bathroom with bath and shower (the windows recently got replaced also so none of that freezing and sticking malarky when you try to de-steam the room after a lovely winter shower); and a big shared living room (I loved being a student but I can't go back to that no living room life) which currently has a projector rather than a TV and I'm really digging it, but a TV could def be added. Who knows.
The flatmate
The flatmate is really warm and cosy and the neighbours think he's alright.
So! Quick part about me then. I am a civil engineer, specifically working in the design of roads & highways and aspects of the environmental impacts associated with that. Outside of work I bounce between thinking I'm boring and don't have hobbies until I start doing things which actually count as hobbies. Some of these include cooking, which I'm apparently good at now (fire some turmeric into that spice mix for roasting veg and then thank me later - and then help me find a cool flatmate); reading, I read a lot of sci fi & fantasy; films and TV shows (though I guess everybody is into those so does it even need added?); Video Games (PC & Xbox etc); Video Games (Lana Del Rey).
I've also gotten quite into boardgames and musicals over the last year (not at the same time, sadly) so if you're into a boardgame night then look no farther! Also BYOBoardgames as I have like four and need to augment that collection!
In terms of history, I've been flatsharing for the past 7ish years, mostly in Glasgow but with the occasional time in Hong Kong, India, and Spain sprinkled in - so if you're looking to trade arsey travel & study abroad stories, I am yo man.
The deal
The rate above covers rent and bills, inclusive of council tax. For that reason I'd initially prefer a fellow big shot professional however if there are any students out there who love the idea of the flat and are dripping with cash enough they want to throw down for CTax as well, please do feel free to also get in touch.
I am open to short and long term rentals, though I really would prefer a 6 month minimum as I can't be typing up these monster ads all the time and haven't figured out cntrl+C & V. I'm a fun and engaging flatmate and am always happy to hang out and chat or head out on the town in the glad rags. I am responsible and clean and feel like I'm at that great point in life where I feel like I'm mature enough to work out any problems quickly and professionally - and am always willing to discuss issues, questions, or concerns - but still at that point I can write up bullshit spiels on flatshares as nobody gave me a character limit. Suckers.
If you live with me, I can guarantee a decidedly average time filled with interesting stories and terrible jokes. And the occasional smoke alarm as I've bollocksed the bacon.
Sorry, the room is no longer available
