What the Opportunity involves:
In return for the low-cost accommodation (£240 pm), we are looking to match our easy going and sociable homeowner with a friendly and caring sharer (our homeowner’s preference is to share with a female); someone who will provide some daily companionship, practical help and a reassuring presence at night. No personal care is permitted in a Homeshare.
Our homeowner is 80 and she leads a quiet life; her daughters live nearby and are very involved in her day-to-day life and often pop in, one with her dog. She has been homesharing for the last eight months with a lovely sharer who is sadly leaving soon for personal reasons.
Our homeowner leads a quieter life these days (she used to travel a lot with her husband). She likes to go for a short local walk each morning, she plays bridge twice a week (she still drives) and goes to her family for supper each week. At home, she plays word games and puzzles on her ipad and watches television.
This opportunity will suit a mature female who is happy to share some companionship time in some evenings, chatting, watching tv or sharing a meal and to accompany her on a short local morning walk, or to the local garden centre when possible. It would suit someone working full or part time, or flexibly whose schedule allows them to be home some early mornings to go for a walk, and early evenings midweek if possible.
Practical support will include keeping the kitchen tidy, helping with online grocery orders and popping to the local Waitrose if needed, and help with basic IT. She would benefit from sharing with someone gentle and patient, who would enjoy sharing an occasional evening meal or watching television, doing a puzzle together, who will also provide a reassuring overnight presence.
We are looking to match this Homeshare opportunity soon. If it is of interest, please get in touch with us preferably by email, telling us about yourself, your work/study situation, hours/location, and interests, and particularly why you consider that you would be well suited to this opportunity. Thank you.
**£240 per month**
This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do NOT pay any rent to the Homeowner. Bills are included, although you may be asked to make a modest contribution to the Homeowner towards the energy bills, and council tax if you are working.
We are a social enterprise facilitating Homeshare matches across London and surrounding areas. We match people who live alone and need some practical support and company, with mature adults wanting affordable accommodation who are happy to provide some companionship and practical support in return for a safe place to live. No personal care is permitted.
