Any 🏳️‍🌈 people moving to the city, I know what it’s like to do and I am happy to answer / give advice generally about the city and finding community (beyond just bar scene). Even if you don’t match the flat criteria - just think it’s important to help / offer tips where I can. As I have been there.

Anyway,
Rent is £600.

Bills are £180 (£12 Fibre Optic, £83 for Council tax and £85 for Gas and Electricity (Locked in til Aug 2025))

I am a vegetarian. That’s an important consideration for me. Flat is also not really suitable for working from home hugely - particularly during school holidays flat can be busy / noisy and not good for home working.

Not suitable for students. Also looking for someone similar in age so late 20s to 30s.

Basically, my first assessment / shortlist criteria tends to go like this:

▫️Not really work from home
▫️Not a student (because council tax and wfh)
▫️Queer/queer ally
▫️Is social both in flat but also a life outside flat (I will be out often on week night so flat will be empty for your time, and be good to have that in return)
▫️Ideally veggie (or else you will need your own pans)
▫️established in Glasgow or has desire to build active life in Glasgow (have had flat mates who moved here and then just stayed in room / flat and started to feel isolated)
▫️Not looking to move in as a couple to the room.
▫️length of stay. In Scots law can’t put a minimum tenancy on but preference is for someone to be here for a week while.

I know that’s sounds a little negative and I do have some openness but that’s what I generally consider / evaluate against when making a choice. So I hope that also helps you know both what I’m looking for but also a bit about me too.

Room & Flat
The room is in a ground floor bedroom of a duplex flat (spanning over a few levels). The bedroom is on the same floor as bathroom with quick access to kitchen. It’s is a separate part of the flat from other bedroom so there is a lot of privacy.

Room is a double room with wardrobe and desk. There is a view over the garden and park and at night there is the faint sound of the river.

The flat has been refurbished in the last few years and still a wee bit of a work in progress

Living room has a sofa bed in it for guests/ visitors to stay in.

Flat includes a dishwasher, washing machine, double oven & kitchen aid (good if your a baker), coffee machine, drying cupboard, microwave, TV, ironing board as well as other things that might be useful.

Flat is fully stocked in terms of dishes etc. The price also includes the cost of kitchen roll, toilet roll, all cleaning materials (communal spaces cleaned weekly and cleaning is shared)

Have been building a herb / woodland garden in the back so any green fingered people there is that!

Tv in living room has Disney, Amazon prime video, World of Wonder (drag race) and Sky. It also has a TV license and the internet seems strong enough to
Have supported gaming and movie streaming at the same time.

Location
The flat is in a busy, popular part of Woodlands next to the subway and many delis, bars, pubs, eateries and quick access to the beautiful Kelvingrove Park (ideal for summer BBQs). Despite this the flat is very quiet with the bedroom very private and secluded as the bedroom is at the back of the flat away from the street.

Transport
The subway is a matter of meters away and the city centre is a 10 minute walk. There is quick access to the motorway if driving. One street over there is ready access to the Glasgow bus network also.

There is on street parking which is permitted meaning we almost always get to park outside the front door. Permit is £90 for the year

Gym & Amenities
The local gym is Glasgow University gym where membership is about £30 though there are 3 other gyms within a 10 minute walk of the flat.

There is plenty to do and discover in the area and despite being here two years I still have only scratched the surface.

Flatmate
I’m a Gay male teacher who takes part in running, badminton. I like a mix of socialisation (and if living in the flat full time would look to be social with flatmate) and do have friends over each month or so for games night, themed nights etc. Happy to sit and watch a movie, eat as well as have our own time and relax in the flat.
