Community-based Happy Hippie House Share looking for caring, considerate, creative, kind humans that enjoy clean & tidy house with garden and workshops space for yoga, dance, play!

Hello! How are you? Really – How are YOU? Phew – I’m feeling quite excited to be embarking on this journey of co-creating a beautiful, community-based house share in my new home!

What are we looking for?

Looking for housemates can feel a bit like looking for the perfect partner/s! I will try to provide as much information as possible, to see if we are looking for the same things.

If you are looking for a community-minded house share with privacy as well as caring, kind and considerate human interaction, this could be the place for you.

Essentials: Clean, tidy, peaceful, considerate.

We are looking for humans who enjoy a very high standard of cleanliness and tidiness and are ready to treat our house with love and respect.

We are looking for humans who are truly considerate to each other’s needs, especially the need for a peaceful home and quiet nights. We all like a good night out, we enjoy music and we love festivals. Therefore, our home needs to be a home where we can rest.

We are looking for caring, kind and considerate humans that want to be part of a community and want to look out for each other.

Desirable: Community, Connection, Creativity, Expression.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a very special community right from the start! Brand-new house, brand-new housemates. I can’t wait!

If you are familiar with the following, or you want to learn more about ways of human relating, we are probably on the same page 

-authentic relating
-radical honesty
-clear communication
-active listening
-expressing, hearing and respecting boundaries
-hugs, play, sharing circles, consent

We are queer-friendly, open-minded, considerate, and predominantly vegan/vegetarian. We welcome open-minded and kind humans of all ages, backgrounds, gender-identities, relationship models etc whilst being mindful not to create a very young house share > house mates in their late 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s welcome!!! An interest in personal development and some sort of spiritual practice is welcome.

We are looking to create a community by sharing meals, having movie nights, enjoying the garden together, being creative and arty.

This space is for you if you like movement (we got a whole room dedicated to it!) and if you like bringing people together. Maybe you teach yoga, pilates, mindfulness, dance or some other kind of workshop? We got the space for shared meals, life drawing, storytelling, all sorts!

If you like building, gardening and DIY, we have got a garden that is craving some attention. We are looking to build a sauna (we got the burner already!) and we got an outdoor bathtub that needs encasing so we can use it for cold dips! As it is a newly renovated house, there are still bits and bobs that need finishing and fixing. We will love you even more if you can hang a shelf, fix a pipe or work a drill.

The room is priced at 325 GBP. Bills are paid separately and split by all tenants to make sure you only pay for what you use (bills can be viewed by all tenants – transparency - we estimate 40/month per person). Deposit is one month’s rent. Rent needs to be paid up front. Council tax is paid by those who are required to pay it (as a student, I am exempt). No pets (allergies), no DSS. Minimum rent period: 3 months, but flexible to suit the needs of everyone involved.

About the house:

The photos do not do it justice! Everything is brand-new, and furniture is kept to a minimum to allow you to make this space your home!

Since the house was bought in an auction last November, family and friends have been helping me to renovate it from top to bottom: Fixed roof, complete rewire of the house (new electrics throughout), real new oak wood flooring on the ground floor, new carpet on 1st and 2nd floor, 2 new bathrooms, 2-3 layers of fresh paint on each and every wall of the house, and endless mini and major jobs throughout! The house is finished to a very high standard, both in functionality and design so that we can live with a clear mind, open heart and comfy bodies!

The house is comprised of:

- 4 bedrooms (incl. bed, drawers/shelving, desk, lamp – minimal furnishing to allow you to bring yourself to the space and make it your home)
- 1 living room (w. super comfy huge sofas & garden access) attached to
- 1 open plan kitchen (2 fridges, gas cooker, oven, washing machine, kettle, toaster)
- 2 bathrooms (1 with sink, toilet, shower, 1 with sink, toilet, 1 bathtub/shower)
- 1 workshop space (yes – an entirely empty room with new oak wood flooring for dancing, yoga, meditation, dinner parties, life drawing,..!)
- 1 garden for veg/fruit/flower growing
- 1 cellar for some storage
- Coming up: garden sauna (yes, we got the oven already!)

Extras:

-real oak wood flooring and new carpet throughout
-double glazing
-security sensor lighting
-new electric smoke alarms throughout
-sky broadband
-house insurance

About the Area:

I just moved to Meeresbrook/Heeley myself, but people call it lovingly 'the lentil belt', referring to the high number of vegan/veggie humans concerned with human and planetary health - I think! :) There is a big park, Meeresbrook Park, about 5min walk from the house and down the road a nice/hip coffee shop called Crate and a record store and a vegan store and tramshef, which is a bar/restaurant and Just Falafs, which is the best vegan shawarma place I know, as well as a big retail park with Lidl and B&M and Costas and a pharmacy. It's 8min drive to Sheffield Train Station, but it is quiet and there is a canal nearby and bus stops that take you into town in 15min.

Who am I?

My name is Laura, and as of last year, I am the happy owner of this wonderful place in Meeresbrook/Heeley. I was born in Germany, moved to the UK 10 years ago (London, then Sheffield 3 years ago) and I am about to finish my PhD in developmental psychology. I am passionate about nature, health, connection. I travel a lot for dancing (blues & fusion), and I like weird people, unusual places and strange events. I love being out and about and therefore need a home that is peaceful and optimistic and kind. I am 29 and most friends describe me as having a sunny nature, being upbeat and knowing what I want.

Come over for a tea in the sun and let's have a chat! :)
