Our guests typically include PhD students, MA students, researchers, interns, placements, or professionals on special projects who spend time in universities, national libraries, or other educational/research institutions in central London. Our Victorian home in Lewisham in Southeast London offers a clean, harmonious and friendly atmosphere with almost chemical-free air, oak flooring, and free street parking. The area is Brockley/Telegraph Hill, south of New Cross Gate.
We welcome guests who enjoy eating in the communal kitchen/living room, where conversations start, and sociable interaction is encouraged. We expect our guests to be fair, have respect and have a sense of reciprocity.
Our fully equipped communal kitchen features a gas range cooker with two ovens, a combination microwave, a food processor, and other essential equipment. The washing machine and tumble dryer are in an outer building with an additional toilet and shower. Our gigabit optical wireless broadband provides fast and reliable internet access throughout the house. We are a mixed group of people with varied eating habits, including vegetarians and vegans. Smoking is not allowed in or around the house, including the garden.
Our location offers easy access to Goldsmiths University (a 20-minute walk), London Bridge (10 minutes by train/overground), Blackfriars, Victoria, and Shoreditch Station (close to Liverpool Street) (15 minutes), and St Pancras (30 minutes). The London School of Economics, the School of Oriental and African Studies, the School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University College London, Birkbeck, and the British Library are all easily accessible. For instance, Brockley Overground/Railway Station is just a 5-minute walk away, Nunhead Railway Station is 12 minutes away, New Cross Gate Overground is 16 to 20 minutes away, and Greenwich and Blackheath are 40 minutes away.
