Access to the house includes step at front door, step down into dining room and further step down to kitchen. The upstairs double bedroom, bathroom and separate toilet are accessed by a flight of stairs plus further steps to bedrooms and bathroom. The bathroom contains a bath with an over-bath shower, toilet, hand basin and boiler. There is a separate second toilet upstairs, so no queues for the loo first thing in the morning.

The sunny double room is centrally heated with two double-glazed sash windows with black out blinds. There is a trolley furnished with toaster, minifridge and microwave for making small snacks. The carpeted room includes a super-king-sized bed, bedside tables and lights, flat screen TV on wall, bookshelves, mirrored wardrobe, table and chairs, and desk.

The room overlooks a main road but the double glazing is very effective. Parking is available if you are willing to drive up and down the road to find a free space. The front garden is concealed from the road by a hedge, and bicycles can be kept in the front garden, locked to the fence, which is part of the hedge.

The dining room includes a dining table and chairs. The kitchen includes cupboards for food storage and cooking utensils, toaster, kettle, bread maker, gas stove with grill and oven, tumble drier, washing machine, double sink, dishwasher and fridge-freezer.

The back garden is large, with a lawn, shrubs and trees, and is accessed by a patio with table and shade. Plenty of space to sit out in the summer and enjoy the sun or shade.

I’m a piano teacher retraining to be a proof reader and dog trainer, so I’m often at home studying or rehearsing during the day. My sitting room doubles as a music studio and is not part of the house share.

I’ve had LGBT lodgers on and off over 20 years and have enjoyed sharing with people. It’s an LGBT household and I am currently transitioning FTM.
