We are a group of friends and housemates in our late 20s and 30s looking for people to move into our two houses in Mount Pleasant (Carlton Terrace and Heathfield). Both are large terraced houses (6 and 8-bedrooms) with big shared living rooms and kitchens, 2 bathrooms each and garden. One house we have recently refurbished; the other one we are just in the process of buying and will need some renovation work in the coming months.
The rooms available are doubles (but only for one person per room - although if you are a couple you are welcome to rent two rooms) and come unfurnished although we can help you source furniture if you need. You are welcome to decorate your room as you want to.
We are a housing co-op which means we are our own landlord, so you will need to be involved in running the co-op, including helping with maintenance work on the house and attending fortnightly meetings (so please don’t apply if you are just looking for cheap rent!) We also eat together every night with a cooking rota which means you will need to cook dinner for everyone once a week (and the rest of the week somebody else will cook dinner for you!)
You are welcome to apply if you are on Housing Benefit as we set our rent so that it is affordable. There is no deposit or letting agent fees and we don’t ask for references or a credit check, but we do like to get to know people a bit before they move in. Bills are extra (around £50/month) but include things like loo roll, cleaning products, tea and milk (as well as the usual utilities, internet, etc).
We currently have a cat in one of the houses and are open to discussion about other pets moving in.
Exact dates tbc but rooms should be available from late January/early February.
If you are interested, please get in touch to tell us a bit about yourself and why you’d like to move in.
Sorry, the room is no longer available
