2 rooms are available in a 4 bedroom house near Fiveways from the beginning of October - potential to move in earlier subject to discussions.
The house comprises of 4 bedrooms, a large kitchen (with dining area, 2 fridge freezers, and washing machine), storage room, garden, living room, bathroom and toilet. Both available bedrooms can easily fit a double bed, as can be seen in the photos. The joint tenancy runs for 12 months from the 7th of October.
The smaller bedroom is £445pm and the larger is £460pm. Deposit is 5 weeks rent. Guarantor or 6 months rent upfront required. Bills are not included in the rent but are roughly £50pm in winter and £30pm in the summer. We have 350Mb/s internet and a smart meter for gas and electric.
The house is technically unfurnished but we have collected plenty of items from around Brighton throughout the house. The current tenants who are leaving are open to leaving items in their rooms for free or a small fee. Finding free or cheap secondhand items is also pretty easy in Brighton (gumtree, marketplace, shabitat, etc.). A small contribution is expected to buy out the communal items from the housemates who are leaving (i. e. washing machine, furniture, etc.).
The housemates who are staying are both male PhD students in their mid twenties. We have been friends for a couple of years but also have our own friend groups and private lives. We try to watch films, go to the beach, cook and eat together and (used to) go to the pub every so often as a house, but we also give each other space. As we are both studying our doctorates we don't really have much time to go out much now unfortunately. We are both normally working 9 to 5 during the week. We try to keep the house relatively clean and tidy, taking it in turns with a cleaning schedule every week.
Ideally new tenants would be postgraduate students or working professionals. Please bare in mind that if you are a working professional you will be liable for council tax (£1,879.03, 25% reduction applicable if paid by 1 person) and that students (including PhD students) are exempt from council tax in Brighton & Hove.
Roughly 20min walk to Brighton Uni Moulsecoomb campus, 30min journey to Sussex uni walking then catching the bus from Lewes road bus garage. 26 and 46 buses regularly go into town or towards Hollingbury Asda.
