Hi,
My mate Sam is leaving the country to be with his new wife, so I'm looking for someone to take his room. The room itself comes with bed/mattress, desk, chair, lamp, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bed side table. You'd be sharing with me (English/Australian, 31) and another girl Sophie (Scottish, 25). I work 9-5 and am generally home in the evenings, Sophie's hours are a bit more unpredictable, but she is often not home (at her boyfriend's). In a way you get the price of a three bedroom flat, while only having to manage one other flatmate (me) most of the time. I'm the kind of person who's happy to hang out but will never invade your privacy.
We have a very generously sized living room and kitchen (stove has five burners if it helps with scale). The flat is on the second floor of a tenament building so you do need to climb two flights of stairs. For bills, gas is £15 per month, internet £10, TV licence £4 and council tax £50. Electricity is topped up manually when it runs out but is roughly £10 per month. This is what we pay each. Students are totally fine as long as you are okay to contribute to the council tax. For local stuff there is a big Sainsbury's just down the road, quite a few good pubs and cafes within like 1 min walk, Arthur's Seat right behind us, and very regular buses to city centre and beyond. By foot princes st is maybe 15 mins.
As for me, I'm keen on a flatmate who wants to hang out and sees the flat as a home rather than just a place to sleep. If you're in the same boat, cool. I like philosophy, some graphic novels, hiking, kayaking (when I have the chance...), chats over beers at quiet pubs, and I studied maths at uni. I like to travel too, though I've been to about 35 countries and may be starting to get over it. A main hobby of mine is photography, I'm ok but I've got a lot to learn. I also like to try and learn new stuff eg go to see an art exhibition, a ballet, a band I'm unfamiliar with, a talk about obscure political opinions, what have you.
If you're keen to at least spend some time together, even if it's just eating our dinner together in the evenings, send me a message with a bit about yourself / what you're looking for.
PS we have a private landlord and he's very easy going. Only Sophie and I are on the lease, you won't have to sign anything.
Cheers for reading,
Holly
