Hello. My name is Alex (female), and I am looking for a new housemate to join me and my little dog, Rigby, in a beautiful, fully furnished house in the Rise Park/Top Valley area. The room is available immediately.

The base rent is £425pcm. The total including bills is approximately £580 - £650 depending on energy prices and the time of year. The council tax is band C. The deposit is £447 and is held in a security deposit scheme. I sort out paying all the bills, so you don’t have to worry about that (although full breakdowns will obviously be provided)!

I really encourage people to make full use of the house, and I am happy for us to add your personal touches to the space. I want this to feel like your home, not just that you are renting a room in someone else’s house. Although the property is furnished, if you have furniture of your own then we will make space for it.

The room is a smaller double or a decent-sized single that overlooks the garden. (Please note that the throw covering the window is a temporary measure and I will get you curtains to your liking!) You will also have use of the box room for extra storage, to use as an office or for whatever you like. My last housemate had main use of that room but we kept a single bed in there for guests. I am happy to change whatever to suit your needs.

I’m a sociable person but I respect other people’s boundaries and need for space. I think that house dynamic is really important, so it would be good for us to get to know each other a little before you move in.

I am forty-three years old (but don’t feel it or necessarily act it all of the time!). I am an ex-veterinary nurse and consultant, but these days, I rescue bats and I am the Care Coordinator for Nottinghamshire Bat Group. I love music, gigging, festivals, nature, wildlife, good food, good drink, and good company! I am eco-minded and it would be nice to find someone who shares these values. Ideally, I would like to live with someone like-minded but as long as you’re nice, respectful, and do your fair share, then I’m happy!

Rigby is a rescue Jack-Chi who is approximately 3.5 years old. He is neutered and fully vaccinated. He has been with me for nearly 2.5 years. He has come on in leaps and bounds in that time but he is still reactive (barking) to some things such as the front door and fireworks. He LOVES other dogs and I would love to find someone with their own dog to move in so that he had a friend! Unfortunately, he cannot live with other types of pets.

Ideally, we are looking for someone to move in long-term but we would start with a six-month contract so that no one is tied in if we are not a good match. I would consider shorter-term contracts while I find the right long-term tenant.
