An elderly gentleman with a wide range of interests but reduced mobility and memory is seeking a Sharer for their home to give them a mix of 15 hours’ help and company each week in exchange for the low-cost accommodation.

He has other support in place but would value the friendly reassurance and company and conversation of having someone living in his home for the extra companionship that would give, plus a little practical help. This help might include help with shopping, cooking (for him, or with him) around four or five meals each week and sharing some of these meals, helping with simple IT and tech support (such as checking an email or finding a TV programme), accompanying on some outings and other ad hoc practical tasks and errands as may be helpful.

The accommodation on offer is a bedroom currently with a single bed that could be replaced with a small double, use of a second room that could be used as a study, and shared use of the kitchen, sitting room and garden.

The property is in an excellent location in Kingston KT2, 10-20 mins walk from Kingston Town Centre, close to the hospital and to numerous bus routes.

A retired teacher, the gentleman’s interests include reading The Times, listening to Classic FM, crosswords, writing his memoires, music, playing the piano, history and geography. His creative interests include painting, mending things, gardening and cookery.

As a Sharer you are free to work or study as long as you have enough spare time to give the agreed level of company and support. The ideal Sharer will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker who ideally shares some of the person’s interests.
