I’m renting out my spare bedroom to postgraduate students doing an exchange or placement.
The main reason for renting is that I’ll be away on holiday in March, then temporarily moving out for a placement (April–May), and later attending a conference in mid-June. I’d therefore like someone to stay in the flat and look after my dog (a Beagle). I normally live alone in the flat, so while I’m here the bathroom, kitchen and living room will be shared.
The bedroom is small but is fully equipped. It has a small tv, a radiator, a double bed, a bedside table, a closet and a chest of drawers, so there should be enough space for all your things. It faces a small street so is not really noisy.
The flat is a 15-minute walk from the railway and bus stations, and a 10-minute walk from the Union Street bus stops. The neighbourhood is residential, very quiet, and has many parks and green areas for walking. A slightly longer walk (around 15 minutes) will take you to pubs and clubs if you’re interested in those activities. The downside of the location is that it’s not close to any university campus, so you’ll need to commute for at least 30 minutes unless you have a bike (you can get one for free through BeCycle).
The flat is very quiet, facing a small street on one side and the garden on the other. There are only two other neighbours in the building, and the flat is on the top floor, so there’s no noise from above. The heating system and insulation are both good. The flat is fully equipped with a washing machine, microwave, kitchen with oven, air fryer, fridge, and all essentials. I have a desk that I normally use for working from home, but since I also have an office at the university, I can leave you the desk to use whenever needed.
My dog is well trained, though he can be cheeky at times. He’s friendly but takes his time meeting new people, so at first he may seem a little indifferent. He’s quite active and enjoys walks and playing with other dogs. He needs one long walk per day (30–60 minutes), as he only poops when he walks for some time. For shorter bathroom breaks, he can simply be taken out to the garden of the building, so no additional walks are required.
The rent price is £300 bills included. If you have an electric bike or a very high consuming electric device, I may charge you a bit extra though. I won't answer calls, only whatsapp and email.
