I live in a townhouse in a quiet street in St Dunstan's, a 10-minute walk to Canterbury city centre and Canterbury West station. It is about a 20-minute walk to the University of Kent.
The rent for a large double room is £650 per month including utility bills, broadband etc.
I have a rescue cat called Cyrus and so I would like anyone taking the room to like living with cats.
I am sociable, have lived in many places and enjoy meeting new people but this is not a party house – the only other occupants are my cat and myself.
There is BT Infinity fibre optic broadband and a small television in the bedroom.
The large double room (4. 6m x 3. 6m) is at the top of the house with a very comfortable 5’ bed, a built in wardrobe, chest of drawers. There is a desk and chairs, bookcase, a kettle and a small fridge for snacks / drinks but you will have full use of the kitchen. Bedlinen / towels are provided if required.
The sitting-room, kitchen and bathroom / shower room are shared and there is also a downstairs toilet,
The house was built in 2000 in the style of the older houses in the street but it is of modern construction, warm and well insulated. The kitchen is not large but it is well equipped with fridge / freezer and a Bosch dishwasher. There is a Bosch washer / dryer.
On the ground floor there is a shared sitting / dining room with double doors opening on to a south-facing courtyard. My bedroom and study are on the first floor. The bathroom has a walk-in shower. There is no en-suite with this room..
Parking is on a quiet street with residents’ permit or I can provide visitors' permits for short stays.
My house is within easy walking distance to Canterbury West station, local shops, restaurants etc. in St Dunstan's and the centre of Canterbury. A small Sainsbury’s less than five minutes away, open 7am - 11pm.
I have grew up in Ireland, have lived in the UK, Ireland, Italy, France and New York. I worked at the United Nations in New York for 11 years and later in the UK as as a freelance journalist / photographer. In France and the UK.
I would like the person who shares my house to have their own life and interests but I would hope to share some conversation with them too. .
Start date of 15 September 2022 may be flexible
Sorry, the room is no longer available
