We are offering a comfortable, furnished double bedroom with a private ensuite shower room and toilet in our friendly home in central Colchester.

The room includes a desk and chair, a wardrobe and chest of drawers. It would be ideal for a professional commuter, contractor, university employee, postgraduate student or anyone looking for a comfortable weekday base.

The room is available from Monday morning until Friday evening. The lodger may leave their clothes, personal possessions and other belongings in the room throughout the tenancy, including over the weekends.

About the house

This is a spacious four-bedroom home with shared use of the kitchen and communal living areas.

The house is generally peaceful and offers plenty of space and privacy. As this is our home, we are looking for someone who will treat it with care and feel comfortable here.

The house is ideally located in central Colchester:

Approximately 20 minutes to the University of Essex by public transport
20-minute walk or 5-minute bus ride to Colchester North Station

15-minute walk to Colchester Town Station

4-minute walk to Colchester High Street

1-minute walk to Hilly Fields Nature Reserve

The location is particularly convenient for anyone studying or working at the University of Essex, while also offering easy access to the city centre and railway stations.

About us

We are two easy-going international professionals, British/French and Polish, with London-based hybrid roles.

We are sometimes away during the working week, so the house is often quiet, and you may occasionally have it to yourself.

We are an international household and enjoy meeting people from different countries and cultures. We have previously hosted students arriving from overseas and understand that finding a comfortable home in a new country can feel daunting.

Professionals and students from the UK and overseas are equally welcome to apply.

We also have two gentle and quiet dogs, a dachshund and a whippet, who are only at the property occasionally, sometimes for a couple of weeks at a time. Applicants must therefore be comfortable around dogs.

Who we are looking for.

We are looking for a quiet, clean and considerate professional or student who needs accommodation from Monday morning until Friday evening.

The room is intended as a weekday base and is not available as a permanent seven-day home.

Terms

Rent: £600 per calendar month, including bills
Deposit: One month’s rent
Minimum stay: Three months
Available from: September 2026

Personal belongings may remain securely in the room during weekends.
