Short term let only 2-7 months. The house is close to Portobello and the room is very large and has two windows. It is fully furnished with double bed, desk, chest of drawers, bookshelf, a sofa and an armchair. The house is very old and has a very large garden. It is five minutes walk to the local train station (one stop to Central Edinburgh) and 5-10 minutes walk to various bus stops taking you straight into town. There is supermarket and other major shops nearby. The beach is only one mile walk on a footpath to the beach. It would be perfect for someone who likes being outdoors and who enjoys cycling as there is a bicycle path all the way into the centre of Edinburgh. You would share one of two kitchens (weather dependant, some parts of the house are unheated!) and, depending on who is home, may have bathroom facilities to your self or have to share with just one other person. Ideal for someone who does not mind a quirky old house, who can be careful looking after it, and who loves living with history.
If you're (really) handy I'm open to thinking about an exchange of (serious) DIY help for (part of) rent. Carpentry; window-repair; gardening especially welcome!
I am an artist and live here some of the time but like to keep to myself so please don't expect a huge amount of sociability. I travel frequently which is why I am renting my room. You may be alone some of the time. At other times you may overlap with me and/or a masters-student staying in another room.
If you show interest in my ad (free!) I'm happy to message you back.
Thanks, Jimi
