Hi,
I'm Aida, a 35-year-old Iranian woman. I'm doing a PhD at the University of Edinburgh. I have almost 2 years left to complete my degree.
I'm looking for a flatmate to start in June 2024 since my current flatmate will move out by the end of May.
The room is north-facing with a nice view of the Edinburgh Castle. The flat is on the 4th floor and there's an elevator.
We'll be sharing the bathroom, kitchen, and living room. The bills (electricity and broadband) are between £120 and £190 depending on the season.
The flat is unfurnished, so my flatmate asks that whoever wants to move in pays for her half of the shared furniture and items (£150). You can buy the furniture in her room as well. She has an itemized list of prices totaling £500 but she's asking for £400 if you take everything.
As a flatmate, I'm pretty clean and quiet. I prefer to talk things out. I'm not a night owl and don't party a lot. I like to occasionally hang out with my flatmate but I need to have my peace and downtime. I'm looking for someone along the same lines. I also request the new flatmate not to sublet their room while they are away. Currently, my flatmate and I follow a weekly house chores rota to maintain the flat, and I would like to keep that going with the new flatmate.
Note on rent and deposit:
The total rent will be £1023.15 with a total deposit of £1123.15. I will pay £526.65 of the rent (£30.15 more) and your share will be £496.5. I'm paying more because my room is slightly bigger. We'll evenly split the deposit (or I'll pay £561.65 and you £561.5).
Note on tax:
I don't pay council tax because I'm a full-time student. I don't mind the new flatmate to be a professional and use my student discount, but I won't chip in for the tax. The tax band is D according to the Scottish Assessors Association.
I enjoy nature, dancing, workouts at home, hang-outs and drinks with friends, cooking, reading, music, travel, galleries/museums/exhibitions, and cinema among other things.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Regards,
Aida
