I have a recently decorated, fully furnished double room available in a super-clean, owner-occupied cottage in the beautiful Surrey Hills.
You'll be sharing the house with me, two Border Collies, two parrots, ducks and geese, so this is very much an animal household and would best suit someone who genuinely enjoys having animals around.
This is a happy, relaxed rural home and I'm looking for a calm, friendly and respectful person who enjoys countryside living and appreciates a clean, well-organised home.

Working from home
The room is not suitable for someone who works from home on a regular basis.
I'm looking for someone whose normal working day is based away from the house. The occasional day at home because of illness, transport problems or exceptional circumstances is absolutely fine, as are normal days off, but this wouldn't suit someone with a regular remote or hybrid working pattern.
During the day this can be a busy working household, with garden machinery, farm animals, power tools and an energetic cockatoo, so it isn't intended to be used as a regular home office.

The room
The room is recently decorated, fully furnished and offered as a serviced room within my home.
Daily housekeeping is included as part of the arrangement. The room is accessed each day for light housekeeping, including hoovering, dusting, general cleaning and ventilation. Bed linen is provided and changed weekly.
Regular access to the room for cleaning, ventilation, changing bed linen and general maintenance therefore forms part of the serviced-room arrangement.
The room is provided fully furnished, including bedding, and is not intended to be refurnished or treated as a self-contained room or separate bedsit.
I simply ask that the room is kept reasonably tidy so that housekeeping can be carried out easily and that it is kept in the same good condition in which it was provided.

A little about the household
We're very much early birds here. I'm usually up with the birds around 5–6am and generally head to bed around 9.30pm. You certainly don't have to keep exactly the same hours, but this would best suit someone comfortable living in an early-rising household. It's definitely not a late-night or party house.
This is a relaxed home environment but wouldn't suit a heavy drinker, smoker or party lifestyle. I'm happiest sharing my home with someone who drinks lightly or only occasionally and respects the happy atmosphere of the house.
As this is an older cottage, good ventilation is important. Windows are expected to be opened regularly throughout the year to allow fresh air to circulate and help prevent condensation, mould and mildew.
There is one shared bathroom and toilet, which is kept spotlessly clean. Please note that there is a bath but no shower.
Frying isn't permitted in the kitchen, although normal use of the kitchen and household facilities is absolutely fine.
Good personal hygiene and consideration for the established routines of the household and animals are important.
