I'm going away for work for 5 weeks from August 16th and looking to sublet my lovely room!
The room is furnished with a double bed, a large wooden desk, a chair, a wooden wardrobe and small chest of drawers, another wooden storage unit, and a mirror. There is also under-bed storage. I'll remove all my things from the room, so all the storage space would be available for you. There is a large sash window that gets good air flow, and the room facing the back of the house means it is one of the cooler rooms in the house in the hot weather!
The bathroom is only shared with the couple in the adjacent bedroom, as all the other bedrooms have ensuites. It has a shower with two shower heads and a bath.
Gas, water and electricity are not included in the price, however, splitting this seven ways helps keep the costs down. In summer it is usually around £50 a month.
Broadband, council tax and a weekly cleaner for communal areas ARE included in the rent.
The house is a huge townhouse, spread over 4 or 5 storeys (depending how you count), so despite having 7 people in the house it never feels crowded! The housemates are social and friendly and sometimes hang out in the evenings, cook and watch TV, sometimes go out for a pub quiz nearby, or sometimes do their own things.
Currently living here are:
JP, from the UK, who works as a concert pianist, piano teacher and psychotherapist. JP is also the live-in landlord, who is easygoing but very proactive in taking care of the house and fixing any issues!
Gabi, from Poland, who works as an artist and art teacher.
Lucie, from Germany, who works as a production manager.
Amy, from the UK, who works in banking.
Alex, from the UK, who works in sales.
The final members of the family are a couple of cats - Tesla and Tinto (photo bombed the room photo above).
The house is so large that there is plenty of space for everyone to satisfy their social and solitary needs. The kitchen is huge and the basement laundry room has two washing machines and a dryer, plus a clothes line in the backyard. There is even a basement cinema room! The house is on a quiet street and backs onto a private road, so is both very safe and peaceful. Battersea Park is a minute's walk away. Battersea Power Station is the closest tube station 10-15 minutes walk away, with Battersea Park Station or Queenstown Road stations closer. Clapham Junction station is about a 20 minute walk away. There's a good Tesco 5 minutes away. I've been very comfortable living here and would recommend the place!
I'm hoping to rent for at least a month, but my return date can be flexible, so possibility to move out from September 21st - October 3rd.
