Available May 6th 2026 – a character, countryside home, ideal for remote work or intentional stays

Hi — I have a beautiful king-sized room available in a cosy, quirky home in the countryside market town of Eye, Suffolk.

The house is part Georgian, part Tudor, set on a quiet lane called The Rookery, with a pretty walled garden. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to slow down a bit — or write a book.

The room:
A spacious king-sized “sleepy” room with a lovely black decorative fireplace. It has plenty of storage, a desk, Wifi and a direct ethernet connection into the internet in case you need it. The window looks out onto a quiet street and over some trees and a wall into what looks like a secret garden.

I also have a smaller double room I’d consider letting at a lower price (though this does not have its own desk) — feel free to ask for details.

The house:
3-bedroom home, shared with:

Me (I work remotely and travel quite a bit)
Beth (33), who also works from home and is into bodyboarding, sub aqua diving, conservation, crafting and cooking

The house is big enough that we all have our own space, but it’s also a home where we enjoy shared time — cooking, chatting, or just coexisting comfortably.

Shared spaces include:

Living room with a log burner
Small library snug (sometimes my workspace)
Open-plan kitchen diner
Large shared bathroom (bath + shower)
Cellar utility room (freezer + tumble dryer)

Outside, there’s a garden with seating and lots of flowers. I’m also working on a craft shed and a small garden bar. There’s space for one more bike in the shed.

The vibe:

This is a calm, grounded home. In the week we are focused on our work, fitness, and read a lot. We live a naturally healthy existence, from yoga on a Monday in a medieval hall we can walk to, to the classes at the purpose built eco wellness centre 5 miles away which has its own community around it. We also often do arts and countryside crafts projects.

That being said. We definitely like sharing a bottle of wine now and then and are often out and about at talks, hiking or taking trips to the beach. We also enjoy having friends over sometimes. And are easy going and welcoming to all. You would be welcome to jump in.

It would suit someone who:

Works remotely or has a steady routine
Perhaps has a project or an intention they want to progress, in a countryside setting, whilst still having company around them
Is looking for a reset before their next long term accommodation
Is working on a placement or contract locally
Enjoys a peaceful environment
Is sociable but also independent
Is happy to share meals and conversations

We’ve had a few shorter-term lodgers before and it’s worked really well — we enjoy the fresh energy and conversation.

Practical details:

Available from May 6th 2026

Short–mid term stays considered (a few weeks to several months, potentially longer for the right person)
Bills included
Fully furnished
Lodger agreement (I live in the property)
No pets

A bit about me:

I’m 48 (young at heart), lived in London for many years, and enjoy the balance of community and personal space. I currently work remotely as an immersive producer, am training as a life coach, and am writing my first fantasy book. I love yoga and sailing.

About living here:

We tend to cook and sometimes eat together if we’re around, but there’s no pressure. We’re not vegetarian, but we’re thoughtful about where food comes from and like to cook well.

About Eye:

Eye is a genuinely special place — a small market town where people say hello to each other and everything is within a short walk. There’s a bakery, butchers, deli, pub, cocktail bar, chocolate shop, Co-ops, an arts centre, and even a castle ruin where you can watch the sunset (often on your own). It feels like being on holiday, but with everything you need.

Final note:

I’m not in a rush — this is about finding the right person rather than filling the room quickly.

If this sounds like your kind of place, send me a message telling me a bit about yourself, what you do, and what you’re looking for.

Happy to have a chat and see if it feels like a good fit.
