Hello! I’m looking for a friendly, tidy professional or postgraduate lodger to join me in my colourful, comfortable and spacious 3-storey 1970s mid-terrace townhouse in Lee (SE12).
The room:
• Large, furnished double bedroom on the top floor, featuring a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, desk and bedside tables
• Bills included (gas, electricity, water, council tax, high-speed WiFi)
• Shared bathroom (one bathroom only)
• No communal TV. You are welcome to bring your own and have it in your room - you’ll need to get a TV licence yourself
The house:
• Beautifully decorated - though I would say that wouldn't I! - with vintage and mid-century furniture
• Big windows letting in plenty of natural light in all the rooms
• Shared modern, high-spec kitchen and bathroom
• Expansive first-floor living room spanning most of the floor, with stunning herringbone parquet flooring
• Separate office space perfect for reading, working from home, or relaxing
• Sofa-bed in the front room I use as an office for people to stay from time to time
• Lovely outdoor garden with patio area for dining or chilling out
• Off-street parking and I'm sure we can find space to store a bike if needed
The location:
• Quiet location in a peaceful cul-de-sac away from main roads and traffic
• Close to amenities: a couple of minutes walk to bus stops, a 10-minute walk to Lee Station with fast links into central London and a 5-minute walk to local shops and the post office
• 15-20 minute walk to Blackheath with cafés, bars, and green spaces
• Nearby gym (Colfe’s School) is less than 10 minutes’ walk
About me:
• I’m a live-in landlord with two gorgeous cats - Betty & Dotty – so this place suits people who love cats too, but I don’t think my cats would welcome new pet pals joining the household so no other pets
• My background is in environmental and climate change policy and projects. I’ve just started a PhD looking at how to better connect what people think and feel with environmental action. I work from home most of the time, occasionally going out during the day for research visits, training or conferences
• My gorgeous partner and I don’t live together and we do the long-distance thing. We don’t have a set pattern but more often than not he’ll be in London during the week for a night or two, and sometimes comes to stay for the weekend. I also go to his place some weekends, so you’ll have the place to yourself then
• I’m a vegetarian but vegan at home
• My interests include travel – I’ve been lucky enough to travel to 61 countries so far, it’s getting harder to go to new-to-me countries as I’m trying not to fly, but I’m enjoying travelling by train; exploring - from gigs to galleries, modernist walking tours to the theatre; reading – there’s books aplenty in my house and I’m a member of a couple of book clubs; exercising - including Pilates, yoga, swimming, HIIT, boxfit and circuits – I love to move it, move it; trying to get my gardening going on; photography; intermittent attempts at crafty things; games – from board games to Yahtzee or card games
Rent & Terms:
• Rent: £1000 pcm (bills included)
• Deposit: One month’s rent
• Non-smoker only
• Minimum term: 6 months
Please get in touch with a brief introduction about yourself, your work or studies, and, crucially, confirmation you’re happy with cats. I’m happy to arrange a viewing and answer any questions.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
