I am sadly leaving our lovely house in leafy Nunhead / Peckham Rye, set across 3 floors on a gorgeous Victorian residential street in South East London.
The room is a lovely, airy top-floor double, with lovely garden views. The room has no adjacent bedrooms so there is very little noise, and has both normal windows and a large Velux skylight (fitted with electrical blackout/heat reflection blinds, ensuring comfort year-round). The room comes with a comfortable double bed, shelving, drawers, a spacious desk, and built-in clothes rail.
We have a spare room with a sofa bed for guests, a large garden, bike storage, garage, and huge shared space where we regularly cook together, hang out and watch films (a big shared interest of the house!). Large bifold doors open onto a well-kept patio space with grass behind, making this house ideal for entering the spring & summer season!
The house was fully renovated in 2016 and has had regular improvement works done since then, and is in all-round fantastic condition as you can see from the attached photos! The landlord is hands-off, but we have a group chat with him to schedule and coordinate any necessary maintenance as required. Easily the best decorated and laid-out house I have lived in in London or elsewhere!
The house is incredibly relaxed with five other friendly housemates who will make you feel at ease from the get-go.
We all work in a range of industries (all quite creatively inclined in work/hobbies), and are LGBTQI+ friendly.
We also work quite different schedules so whilst we do a lot of things together, the house rarely feels crowded, and only two (including me) work from home.
Our council tax is Band D, all bills come roughly £100/mo, usually even less from Spring-Autumn (with lower heating bills).
We have a range of transport options close by:
- 10-15 mins walk to either Brockley (Zone 2) or Honor Oak Park Stations (Overground, Southern to Victoria/London Bridge)
- 10-15 mins walk to Nunhead (Zone 2) or Crofton Park Stations (Thameslink to St Pancras/Finsbury Park/Luton).
- There is a bus stop right outside the house for the 343 (Aldgate<->New Cross Gate), 464 (Denmark Hill/Camberwell <-> Lewisham, and P12 (Honor Oak<->Surrey Quays), each every 6-10 minutes.
- 37 Bus leaves from close by to East Dulwich, Dulwich Village, and onto Brixton.
- Peckham Rye and New Cross Stations are 5-10 mins away on the bus, and are each major transport hubs for South (East) London. I also recommend Lime bikes, which have a parking spot just opposite the house, for if you ever need to get somewhere in a pinch! Both are 7-10 mins away by bike.
