We have a double room available from 8 May, £795 (bills, CT and all communal household items included) in our pretty Victorian terraced house. Our house is in the heart of Lower Clapton, just around the corner from Chatsworth Road and a 5-min walk from Lower Clapton Road.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US
You’ll be sharing the house with the five of us (Daisy, Keir, Liam, Rose & Tina). We’re all between 31 and 52 and work in a mix of creative/social areas: design, performance and visual arts, writing, music, psychological science/politics. We are a queer and cat friendly house. We’re all considerate and while this is not a party house we’re always happy to spend time together. Most of us work from home at least half of the week, and while we’re all quite busy on the side, we enjoy making our house a nice and relaxing home.

ABOUT YOU (and your cat)
We’re looking for someone who has a similar way of living to us and wants a home not just a room. We hope you’d be prepared to muck in with some deep-cleaning and perhaps a bit of DIY if you have the skills – if you are good at proactively keeping-things-nice and small home improvements, that's a plus and you fit right in : ) If you have a 😺 that is a BIG bonus! The departing housemate has a cat and we are keen to continue to have a feline presence in the house. The landlady has given permission, the garden has catflap access, and the house is on a cul-de-sac, so very safe. The room's window allows access to the roof (if your cat would like to explore at night). The managing agent will have some reference-check requirements: proof of income, right to live in the UK and some references from employer or previous landlord.

THE ROOM
The room is spacious and bright with wooden floors and a big window overlooking our garden. It can be completely unfurnished, or can come with: bed, mattress, desk, mirror, shelfs...etc. The rent is 795 (including all utilities, council tax, fast broadband, toilet paper and eco-friendly house supplies).

THE HOUSE
The house is a Victorian terrace with wooden floors throughout and our own garden. We do not have a separate living room but have a good size open kitchen/diner room that leads to the garden. If you have a bike, we have space to lock it securely outside (or inside if Brompton-style). The house is old and 'shabby-chic' in places, it also has it's charms and benefits and the important mod cons are good. So overall good value but better suited for people who are ok with that sort of thing, value old over new and are happy to occasionally re-paint a wall (see: DIY, above). We’re located on a quiet road just a minute away from Millfields Park. If you know Clapton, you know how green and nice the area is. If not, we’ll be happy to show you around – here’s what you can expect: 5 min walk to Chatsworth Road, which has a lovely market on Sundays Cafes, restaurants, pubs and nice food shops are all within a 5-10 min walk radius. 10 min walk to Clapton overground, 15-20 min walk to Homerton, Hackney Downs and Hackney Central overground. 5-10 min walk to the Lea River nature reserve 5-10 min walk to Hackney Downs Park 15-20 min walk to Walthamstow and Hackney Marshes. Bus routes leading to Stratford, Shoreditch, Camden and Central London all within a 5 min walk.
