Hello!
We're looking for someone to join us in our four person flat share right by Hackney Downs. One of us has been living here for a couple years, another for six months or so and a third is moving in later this week. We have a nice vibe in the flat and are looking for someone who might fit well with that. It's a very small room, unfortunately, but the rent is definitely on the cheaper side of things (580 per month plus bills that should amount to around 60/ month). One of us has lived in the room for some time though and there are ways to make it work! We also have a nice, big living room which you're also welcome to make use of and the kitchen is a good size also.
We're all working people in their late 20s to late 30s, although are open to mature students also. We're fairly open age wise but would prefer someone who's late 20s and up also as we're all a bit older.
Sam is from the UK, but grew up in the Netherlands and lived for many years in Germany. They work at a local queer venue and also do freelance work in the world of publishing. Dewie, originally from Australia and also in her thirties, works full time at a bar/ restaurant in Soho. Aje is moving in later this week but works in film and tv. We're all also queer so would be nice to have another queer in the house and hope to provide a safe space for other queers.
We're all quite busy with work but also like to go out and have fun although it's worth mentioning that this is definitely not a party flat! Of course, you're welcome to have people over and throw the occasional party at home but for the most part we like our home to be a calm and quiet place where we can rest and recharge after a long day at work (or a night out!) That said, we're a pretty social flat and enjoy doing things together and checking in with one another. We also like to have a flat meeting once a month to check in with everyone else and to address any issues that may arise.
In theory you're free to leave at any point with only a couple weeks notice although we ask people to give us at least a month's notice, if possible, so we have time to find the next person and also would prefer if the person would like to stay at least a few months as it can be very tiring constantly having to find new people but also appreciate that given the size of the room it's often only a stop gap for a lot of people.
The room comes with a small double bed, a chest of drawers, a lamp and a shelving unit and there's also a rail to hang your clothes and you'd be surprised how much you can actually fit in there. The kitchen is also spacious and we have all the appliances and equipment you'd need to cook clean etc.
Bills (gas and electricity) are about 65/ month. Gas and electricity come to about 20 per person per month and council tax is about 45 per person per month. Apart from that all other bills are included in the rent (water and internet etc). Our landlords are pretty good at getting thing fixed when they need fixing also and the flat was also recently redecorated and revamped a bit.
