We have a double room going in Peckham in our lovely 2 bedroom flat.
ACCESSIBILITY
One flight of stairs to access the flat, and additional 5 steps to get to the room and the living room. No lift and no intercom.
THE ROOM
Spacious double room with a window looking onto the neighbours’ lovely garden.
High ceiling and a large radiator that will keep you warm in winter.
>>Furniture: a double bed+mattress, a bedside table, 1 wardrobe and a shoe rack that you can buy from the person leaving the room, if you like.
If you want none of the furniture, or only some bits, it can be arranged.
There is a desk that came with the house (can be removed if you like).
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We’d love a friendly and mindful flatmate in their 30s or 40s, someone who is respectful and knows how to take care of the home. Someone that has experience of house sharing and is happy to live with a cat.
We want to live with someone whose views align with ours, politically and socially. Supporting trans rights and a free Palestine are non-negotiable.
Ideally a long term stay, but shorter lets can be considered (price would go up a bit).
THE FLATMATES
We are a queer couple.
Abel (he/him, transmasc) is 32, from Brazil, and works full time in academia. He enjoys his quiet time but also little chats and communal meals. He has been in London for 4 years.
Susanna (she/her, cis woman) is 37, from Italy and works in a college. She loves walking/cycling around the neighbourhood and some light DIY. She has been in London for 16 years.
We both really value our time at home to recharge and relax, and we like to make, and keep, the space pleasant and welcoming.
Dolores (she/her/cutie, cat) is a 10 months old rescue cat. She is very well house trained, loves cuddles and naps in the sun, she will eat any breadcrumbs you drop on the floor. She is curious but cautious, maybe still a bit scared by past trauma. She is our cat so you don't have to worry about feeding her or cleaning her litter. However we'd really like to live with someone we can trust to look after her if we go on holiday.
THE FLAT
We love this flat! We moved in almost 2 years ago, it was completely unfurnished and we really made an effort to make it homely and take good care of it.
We all take turns in weekly house chores and are mindful of noise, each other’s spaces and needs.
It’s on the 1st floor of a terraced house.
We have a spacious, fully equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher and a breakfast table), bathroom (with bathtub) and separate toilet as you walk in. Then up 5 steps there is the advertised bedroom and a gloriously sunny living room.
Here there is a sofa, dining table and chairs.
Our bedroom is on the top floor.
We find it to be a really good flat to spend time together but also to each have time on our own. We have lots of plants that we seem to be keeping alive pretty well.
Downstairs, on the ground floor, we have the loveliest neighbours with whom we have established a very good relationship and we help each other with parcels, keys, cats etc.
We are renting directly from the landlady, so no unhinged agencies. She is fairly responsive if there are any issues.
>> Please note that this is quite an old property and it comes with lots of charm but also things to be mindful of like old uneven floors, some old windows etc.
THE LOCATION
It’s a great location on a quiet street, in between Peckham/East Dulwich/Nunhead. We are a short walk away from green spaces, plenty of shops (including Lidl!) and pubs, cafes and bars. If you are a cinema goer, Peckhamplex is right around the corner and there’s always lots of community and cultural things to take part in.
Our local leisure centre (with gym and pool) is 5 minutes walk away.
