Helloo!
My lovely flatmate is moving out of London for their PhD, and I'm looking for someone new to share this 2-bedroom apartment with from 7th July! I’ve been living here as a tenant for a year, and I’m looking to continue to live here with someone who’s neurodivergent/disability friendly, tidy, non-binary or a woman, and particularly someone who wants to care for this place like their home
Rent + bills (pcm) (required): 837.5 pcm + bills (split evenly, the rent of the entire apartment is 1675pcm)
Deposit (required): 825 (also split evenly, the deposit for the entire apartment is 1650 and protected by the DPS scheme)
Tenancy: 1 year lodger’s agreement, with both of our names on the contract (this is not a sublet). It is a 1 year contract with a 1 month notice period.
About me:
My name is Amal. I’ve been working in the charity sector for the last few years, and mostly work from home. I’m not a big party person but I enjoy having friends over. I am a musician, and have a few instruments that I play but I’m mindful about sound and shared spaces! I've also just completed a master’s in education policy. I’d describe myself as creative, ambitious and organised!
Creating a home space:
I enjoy an equal balance of friendliness and valuing each other’s privacy, and think communication is key when living together. I do want to spend some quality time with the person I live with (sitting together to have a meal, playing board games, watching a show) and also really value my alone time reading, painting, and recharging in general.
It’s important to me that the place I live is mental health, neurodivergent and disability friendly - so if you’re looking for a safe space for that too, we’re aligned!
A note on cleanliness: I’d like to either include a cleaner in our budget that we would split, or we can decide on a cleaning rota so we can both help each other make sure the apartment stays clean!
Access info (required):
The flat is on the first floor, with 14 steps to the landing. (no lift unfortunately There is a small 1-inch step into the building, and a 1-inch raised doorframe into the flat. There is an intercom entry system to let people in (friends or groceries delivery!). Within the flat itself, there are no steps.
Other access related info: This is a neurospicy + disability friendly home - I’m looking forward to continuing that with the new flatmate. I’d like to have a conversation to decide together how we can make the place as accessible as possible for each other.
Description (recommended):
Location: The flat itself is a cosy, two bedroom flat in Barnet. It’s a 5 minute walk from New Southgate train station, and 10-15 minutes walk away from the Arnos Grove tube station. There are 3-4 green spaces about 5-10 minutes away and grocery shops within a 5 minute walk!
Flat: The flat has two bedrooms, a living+dining room, and a kitchen (separate spaces but there’s no door between them), a bathroom, a coat closet, and a boiler closet. It’s a really spacious apartment, and there are windows on opposite walls which means light and fresh air fill the apartment. There’s a small lawn where you can sit to enjoy the weather if you’d like.
Bedroom: As you can see in the pictures, the bedroom is pretty spacious! The bed + mattress will remain (the rest of the furniture is my flatmate’s), and the in-built closet space can be seen in the pictures. There is plenty of space for additional furniture to be added! Also, the bedroom + lounge get gorgeous afternoon sunlight
Additional info: No pets allowed, sadly. Singles only, no couples!
Viewing: If you’ve gotten through all this info and think you’re a good fit, please message me! It would be great if you could tell me a bit about yourself like what you do for a living, how often you wfh, your introvert-extrovert ratio, what you prioritise in a living environment and the ways you like to spend time with people you live with, and of course anything that you are looking for in a flat / flatmate!
