About the room and property
We are looking for someone to rent a sunny double bedroom in our house. We are located near Gedling Country Park. There is a Sainsbury's Local (5-min walk) and Victoria Retail Park (5-min drive) nearby. There is free on-street parking available. Bus 44 and 25 both run in the area and it takes about 30 minutes to get into Nottingham city centre or 15 minutes if you're driving.
The room is furnished with a double bed, a chest of drawers, two nightstands and a desk. It has a built-in wardrobe with plenty of storage. I'm happy to get a TV for the room too if preferred.
You will have access to the kitchen, the living room, a bathroom with shower over bath and WC, and to a separate WC. Please note we have 2 electric ovens, a gas stove, a dishwasher and a washing machine with a separate room to dry clothes but no microwave or clothes dryer. You're welcome to put a microwave in your room though. We also have a garden with plenty of space for barbecues in the summer.
It's a very 'homely' home that we own, live in and look after as best we can so you won't get the 'student house/party vibe'. Our cat, Kiki, also lives with us.
About us
I'm Lily (she/her), I'm 29 and I work with neurodivergent students. My partner, Kev (he/him) is 40 and also works in education. We both like music, board games and going to the gym. Kev plays the guitar, loves films and cinema, and likes to build Warhammer figures. I'm culturally a mix of British, French and German. I like learning languages (I speak 4 fluently) and how to play the drums (electronic, don't worry), building Lego and puzzles, going for walks and swimming. We're quite social but tend to socialise outside the house except for the occasional board game night which you are more than welcome to join.
Kev has 2 children from his previous marriage aged 6 and 9. They come visit every alternative weekend for 2 nights and half the school holidays. They have their own rooms and when the weather allows, we go on day trips with them but there are weekends where we just stay in hence why we need a lodger who does not mind kids being around. We are also open to Monday to Friday lodgers for a reduced rent (see bottom of the ad).
Smokers are welcome as long as you smoke in the garden/on the front porch. We thought a good age range would be between 25 and 45, but if you fall outside this age range and feel like you'd be a good fit, get in touch. Like I said, we are both quite social but also like having our own space.
For full transparency, here is what is included in the rent: toilet tissue, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, all bills including council tax
Not included: food, drinks, personal care items like shampoo, shower gel and toothpaste
Short stays considered (less than 3 months) for £600 per calendar month.
Also open to Monday to Friday only lodgers (meaning someone who leaves the house on the Friday evening and comes back on the Sunday evening) for £400 per calendar month.
