About the room and property
We are looking for someone to rent a double bedroom in our house in Gedling. We are located near Gedling Country Park. There is a Sainsbury's Local (5-min walk) and Victoria Retail Park (5-min drive) nearby. There is free on-street parking available. Bus 44 and 25 both run in the area and it takes about 30 minutes to get into Nottingham city centre or 15 minutes if you're driving.
The room is furnished with a double bed, a chest of drawers, two nightstands and a desk. It has a built-in wardrobe with plenty of storage.
You will have unrestricted access to the kitchen, living room, bathroom with shower over bath and WC, and to a separate WC. We have a dishwasher, and a washing machine. We use dehumidifiers to dry our clothes. We also have a garden with plenty of space for barbecues in the summer. We have a cat, Kiki.
It's a very 'homely' home that I own, live in and look after as best I can so you won't get the 'student house/party vibe'.
About us
I'm Lily (she/her), I'm 29 and I work with neurodivergent students. I am recently separated and live with my new partner, Kev (he/him), who is 40 and also works in education. We both like music, board games and going to the gym. Kev plays the guitar, loves films and cinema, and likes to build Warhammer figures. I'm culturally a mix of British, French and German. I like learning languages (I speak 4 fluently) and how to play the drums (electronic, don't worry), building Lego and puzzles, going for walks and swimming. We're quite social but tend to socialise outside the house except for the occasional board game night which you are more than welcome to join.
Kev has 2 children from a previous relationship aged 6 and 8. They come visit every alternative weekend for 2 nights and half the school holidays. When the weather allows, we go on day trips with them but there are weekends where we just stay in hence why we need a lodger who does not mind kids.
We share chores and would like whoever shares a house with us to be independent and able to organise their schedule, leaving time in the week to clean the communal areas and wash their pots without being asked to do so.
Smokers are welcome as long as you smoke in the garden. We thought a good age range would be between 25 and 45, but if you fall outside this age range and feel like you'd be a good fit, get in touch. Like I said, we are both quite social but also like having our own space.
Also included: toilet tissue, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, all bills including council tax
Not included: food, drinks, body wash/shampoo
Short stays considered (less than 6 months) for £150/week so £600/month.
Also open to working days only lodgers (meaning someone who leaves the house on the Friday evening and comes back on the Sunday evening) for £400/month.
