This is a 1942 harbour launch navy boat called ‘Sunseeker’. It is 52’ by 12’, so much wider than a typical narrowboat. I would also consider selling the boat (for around £30k).
There is a main bedroom, a small bedroom, a kitchen, a bathroom, an engine room, a sitting room and a wheelhouse (which could also be a bedroom).
It is located near King’s lock and Oxey Meads, which makes it about 25 minutes cycle from the train station or city centre. The cycle path is along the canal, which is a beautiful cycle ride.
There is a wood burning stove, an oil burning (Refleks) stove, two radiators, a gas-powered water heater, a gas stove for cooking, shower, portipoti toilet, solar panel and washing machine, but the whole water system is in the middle of an overhaul.
The closest place to get water is from the tap at King’s Lock.
This area floods during the winter so you will need waders to get to the road.
This is a nice place to live for one person or a couple, especially if they are into DIY!
The boat is too wide for the Oxford canals. But the current location is great and so there is no need to move.
The boat has a valid boat safety certificate.
