A bright, double room is available in a Victorian house just off the Cowley Road and within 15 minutes walking distance of the city centre. The room is fully furnished, newly redecorated, and is offered inclusive of all bills. We had a new boiler and smart heating system installed in February 2023. The rent also includes a cleaner who comes roughly once every two weeks who cleans communal areas etc. and there is no expectation that the tenant will be responsible for general cleaning, beyond tidying after themselves.
The house is a three-bedroom property, with owner-occupier as co-resident, and one existing lodger. Full use of shared facilities, sitting room, 60ft garden with herb and vegetable gardens, and fully-fitted kitchen equipped with induction hob, washer/drier, dishwasher, and extensive utensils and cooking equipment. Brand-new double glazing has recently been fitted. Storage, including for bicycles, is available in secured basement area with separate access, and on-street parking permits are available from the local council subject to eligibility. The room is available from the start of May 2024, and I am willing to consider flexible and shorter let periods by negotiation. There is also a cat in the property who is generally shy and unobtrusive, but obviously the room would be unsuitable for those who dislike or are allergic to animals.
I recently moved back to Oxford from Montreal, Canada, having been a student in Oxford and the US previously, and now work for the University. The house would be ideal for someone sociable, but who also values a quieter, more private living environment than most house shares.
Hurst Street is a quiet side street off the Cowley Road, now popular with a mix of professionals, families and students. Numerous bus routes into the city centre are within a very short walking distance, as well as those serving the hospitals, Headington, Iffley, London and the airports. The Cowley Road is a vibrant and energetic part of central-east Oxford, with numerous restaurants, cafes, shops and amenities within very close distance. This includes the increasingly vibrant Magdalen Road with Elle's Deli, Missing Bean Coffee, Green Routes vegan cafe, Taste Tibet, and numerous independent retailers.
