Hi there. A double room is becoming available in this characterful two-bed, first-floor Peckham/East Dulwich flat.
The room is a spacious double with a built-in cupboard, sliding double-glazed windows and a thick curtain. It comes furnished with a white metal bed and matching mattress, and offers enough space to fit a sizeable desk plus an additional piece of furniture, and still move around comfortably.
The window goes out to the back, which makes for a quiet atmosphere, and offers a view over the slightly ramshackle but leafy backyard and garden (with occasional parakeets in spring/summer).
The flat has an open-plan living room and kitchen, partitioned off via French doors.
Both have dark wooden floors, are really bright in general, and get a lot of morning sun.
There is a yellow Formica-top breakfast (/lunch /dinner) table from Sussex, chairs, a creaky but comfortable armchair and space for more furniture – previous iterations of the flat have seen a sofa and coffee table.
Bathroom is fitted with a tub and round mirror and the shower head has good water pressure. There’s a very small hallway/landing area. Kitchen with usual appliances - fridge and freezer, gas hob (and oven) with extractor fan, washing machine, dishwasher and microwave, and a good amount of cupboard space.
East Dulwich train station is 5 minutes, and takes one to London Bridge in 13, there’s a range of 24-hour-buses, and Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye (Overground) are a 15-20-minute walk and take one anywhere from Battersea to Hackney. Less relevant during the last few months perhaps, but might be again soon. If you have a bike, there’s a backyard/patio next to the patch of garden belonging to the flat, where it can be kept safely.
Plenty of supermarkets (2 M&S, Co-op, large Sainsbury’s), as well as the General Store, Village Grocer and Organic Village, with the latter two open until late in the night.
The area has bakeries, cafés, restaurants and bars, too, and the South London Gallery puts on great exhibitions (when open).
Peckham Rye Park and Common is a 10-minute walk (or 4-minute run) away and great for exercise and socialising, not least during the summer months, or during a pandemic.
More green space further afield (Dulwich Park, Nunhead Cemetery, One Tree Hill, Sydenham Woods).
You would be living with me, Thomas, a friendly visual arts graduate in my 30s, with my studio in South Bermondsey.
Rent is £ 775, bills come to about £ 100 (water, electricity and gas, council tax, broadband), the flat is let privately (not by me), and available around the 21st of May (with some flexibility).
Message me if you’re interested, and we can arrange a viewing.
Sorry, the room is no longer available
