We are a quiet mid-life professional couple offering a large furnished double room for one person in our live-in terraced home in Milton, Portsmouth (PO4).

The room would particularly suit someone who appreciates a settled lifestyle, such as a working professional, postgraduate student, mature student, or someone looking for a peaceful base while working or studying locally.

We work in higher education ourselves and understand the importance of having a comfortable environment where you can focus, rest and feel at home.

Ideal for mature student/working professional or a professional working in Portsmouth Monday-Friday.

Location

The house is located in a residential area of Milton/Southsea PO4, Portsmouth, with the sea at the end of the road.

Conveniently located:

* 10–15 minute walk to St Mary’s Hospital and Fratton Park
* 2–5 minute drive to nearby routes and facilities
* Easy access to Portsmouth city centre and university areas

Transport links are excellent:

* The number 13 bus route is steps away
* The U2 university bus route is steps from the front door

The Room

The room is available 7 days a week for **£695pcm**.

A weekday-only option may also be available for someone who only needs accommodation during the working week:

Important Things To Know

The bedroom faces the road, so there can be some background traffic noise at busier times. This is Portsmouth city living rather than a quiet suburban location, so please consider this before enquiring.

We also have a friendly young Labrador living in the home.

She is a much-loved part of our family and enjoys meeting people, so this home would suit someone who is comfortable around dogs and ideally enjoys having a pet in the household.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept another pet due to already having a dog.

This home may not be suitable for someone with a dog allergy or anyone looking for a completely pet-free environment.

Availability & Terms

The room is available from August/September 2026 (flexible start date may be possible).

A lodger agreement and contract will be signed before moving in.

References will be requested before move-in with at least 2 being taken up and time before move in will be allocated to this. If working, one will be a work reference. If studying at UOP then we will need proof of funds, your offer and if you are international then it will be 12 months rent in advance of move in for the room. UK students can pay each semester in full in advance which is common practice for student rentals. A 4 week holding deposit for damages will also be held.

Rent is paid monthly via BACS or DD in advance.

Council tax is included in the rent (Band C).
