We have a large double room available on the third floor of Dover Flats, located at the top of Old Kent Road (SE1). The location is ideal for anyone working or commuting in London, with just a 20 minute walk to London Bridge or Elephant & Castle (or 5-10 mins by bus).
The rent is £650 each month, and includes the service of a cleaner who comes once a month to clean the kitchen, bathroom and hallway. Rent is payable in advance each month, direct to the private landlord.
We took control of the bills from the landlord instead of having our rent increased, so these are paid separately to me and work out at £78 per person per month (including decent, fast internet). If you ever want me to, I can show you copies of the bills.
The room is partially furnished (double bed with mattress, chest of drawers, random table, wardrobe, bedside cabinet) but we can remove anything you don't want. You'll need to provide your own bed sheets, pillows and duvet.
We have a fairly large kitchen with a microwave, three fridge-freezers, and a washing machine. You'll have your own cupboard and fridge-freezer. There's also a shared bathroom and a (separate) toilet.
You'll be living with one Polish female and one British male (that's me!). We're friendly and easy to get on with, but with the absence of a lounge we tend to mainly keep to ourselves, with a bit of socialising in the kitchen. We're both musicians and artists, and I also love video games and VR. We're not too noisy and not too quiet, and we tend to be clean but a little untidy, so you can be anything in between.
All communal areas are strictly non-smoking, and the previous room occupants were non-smokers. My current flatmate is also a non-smoker. You can choose to be either a smoker or non-smoker. I smoke in my bedroom with the door closed and windows open, and make sure to keep my door closed when I leave my room - so you shouldn't ever smell or notice it. However, if you do and it bothers you, just let me know and I'll start smoking outside instead. You might even encourage me to finally quit or switch to vaping!
I guess our ideal flatmate would be someone fairly laid-back and creative who'd like to be friends and occasionally chat, but would feel comfortable enough telling us if we're doing anything that they don't like (i. e. cooking smelly food, making slightly too much noise, using the shower every day at the exact time they'd really like to, etc.). If you're a vegetarian/vegan, or at least don't eat meat every day of the week, that'd be a big plus!
If it matters to you, we're a queer-friendly and left-leaning household, but self-aware enough to know that's not everyone's idea of good conversation. As long as you don't label people as "snowflakes" or "SJWs", or think that being racist/homophobic/sexist is somehow fighting back against the system, then we'll probably be fine. ;)
If we sound like the type of people you'd get on with then you're probably an ideal flatmate! Give me a call or send me a message and I can answer any questions or arrange a time with you to view the flat.
