Hey, I’m moving out of my lovely home in Hither Green to live with my partner. Hither Green is great area - laid back, lots of families live here & just has a really lovely atmosphere. It is slightly further out (Zone 3) but still only 10-15 mins to London Bridge on the train. It offers a little calm, especially needed if you work in busy central London!
Rent: The room itself is £475 per month (payable the last working day of the month to one of my housemates who then pays the landlord).
Bills: These come to around £93.34 (electric, gas, WiFi, Council Tax). We pay the water bill very 6-months, split between all of us of course. Since I’ve been living here my share has come to £65-80. All bills are also paid to the same housemate as all the direct debit come out of his account (he has lived in the property for a long time)!
Total (bills + rent): £568.34
Landlords haven't upped the rent in years (they're pretty old) so it's unlikely to increase in the near future. No references required.
Transport:
Hither Green station is about a 7/8 minute walk from the house, for southeastern services to Lewisham, New Cross, London Bridge, Waterloo East, Charing Cross & Cannon St. Local bus services are nearby (8 min walk to the bus to Surrey Quays and Canada Water). If you walk approx 15 mins to Lewisham Fire Station or Clock Tower, there are a lot more bus services from there. The DLR is also 20 mins walk (Lewisham) for all stations (including. Greenwich and Canary Wharf) to Bank.
Amenities:
There are plenty of cute coffee shops in Hither Green, a lovely pub, an independent brewery & microbrewery, a few restaurants and a few lovely independent shops & florists. There are quite a few grocery shops in the area, as well as a Sainsbury’s local near the station and a Co-op up the road from the house. There is a large Sainsbury’s about a 10 or so minute walk away and a Lidl about the same distance too. Lewisham centre is a 15-20 minute walk with high street shops (including M&S, TK Max and Primark) and market stalls. There is a small park very close to the house called Manor Park, then another few minutes away is the bigger Manor House Gardens which hosts a library and a nice cafe. In the other direction you have Mountsfield Park, which is even bigger, also featuring tennis courts and a cafe - is also great to have a jog in! Blackheath is nearby, a 20 min walk and Greenwich Park is a 40 minute walk. So all in all it is a lovely area, safe, with lots of amenities and parks nearby.
Who you’ll be sharing with:
There are two guys (downstairs bedrooms) and one woman (other upstairs bedroom). This is a quiet, independent house - we all get on well, chatter and there is never any issues at all. But just so you know this isn’t like a loud/party house. Everyone is chill, clean and very lovely. Never had any issues in the 2 years I’ve been living here!
The room and house:
It is a decently sized double bed bedroom. It has large wardrobes, a chest of drawers x2 (one is mine I can leave them you want them). There are two bathrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs), so obviously me and the girl upstairs use that one and vice-versa. There is a ‘living room’ upstairs too, but at the moment it’s kind of used a dumping ground for people’s extra stuff (most of it is mine to be honest so it will be a lot clearer once I move out lol). In the winter too, sometimes people dry their washing in there (there’s also a rack outside mine and the other girls bedroom for our washing to dry when it’s raining outside). There is a sofa and a desk/chair in there though, so good if you work from home and don’t want to clutter the room with your desk etc. No one really uses this a lot to be honest, so don’t worry about getting in anyone’s way if you want to work in there - you wont be disturbing anyone. If you want to, you can even make it nice and cosy! Kitchen is a good size & has a dining table & plenty of storage space for you to put your bits and bobs. Decent sized garden (all patio - no grass) & there’s a washing line.
Message me for further info and viewings. Can be flexible on dates if you'd rather move in early-mid May than end of April, should be ok.
