BACKGROUND

After two and a half years, one of my current lodgers is moving into a tenancy with her close friend, creating an opportunity to rent a room in my home.

Although I am a live-in landlord and this is my only home, the reality is rather different. I travel extensively throughout the UK and overseas, and I also spend time with my partner who lives in London. As a result, I’m often away during the week and usually only return occasionally, mainly at weekends to spend time with family and friends.

This means you’ll often have the house almost entirely to yourself, sharing only with one other female lodger. It’s much more like living in a two-person house than simply renting a room.

THE ROOM

The room is for sole occupancy, and all bills are included. It includes a comfortable double bed (Gothic style bed-frame, with Tempur memory foam mattress). Wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinets.

THE HOUSE

The house is a well-maintained, three-bedroom property with a calm, relaxed atmosphere, situated on a quiet private road in the Bassett Green area of Southampton.

You’ll have shared use of:

* Two reception rooms/lounges (both with TV, sofas etc)
* Kitchen
* Bathroom
* Conservatory
* Secluded garden
* Ample off-road driveway parking

The house is fully furnished and includes fast broadband, a burglar alarm and all the usual household amenities. I also have a TV licence for the house, so you’re welcome to use the televisions in the shared living areas.

LOCATION

The property is conveniently located for:

* University of Southampton
* Southampton General Hospital
* M3 and M27 motorways
* Bus routes into the city centre
* Swaythling railway station (around a 10-minute walk)
* Southampton Airport Parkway station and Southampton Airport

WHO WOULD THIS SUIT?

I’m looking for a professional or mature student who will appreciate a quiet, comfortable home.

The room would suit someone looking for either:

* Full-time accommodation
* Monday-to-Friday lodging

If you’re only looking for Monday-to-Friday accommodation, I’m happy to negotiate on the rent.

If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful, secure and well located, with the added bonus of frequently having the house almost entirely to yourself, I’d be delighted to hear from you.
