This newly decorated and carpeted large double room is furnished with a single bed, shelving unit, clothing rail, desk, chair and bedside table. The light room benefits from large double-glazed windows which overlook the green opposite. The house has it's own garden and also has St. James Park on it's doorstep. A less-than 10 minute walk to Shirley High street with excellent travel links to the city centre, train station and university, the house is also walking distance from Southampton General Hospital and Southampton Common. It feels very green here but is actually super convenient city living!
There is a large bathroom with a bath and a shower, a dining/living space, kitchen and downstairs toilet. I would prefer to keep the front lounge as non-shared, at least to start with. I have an 9 year old male cat who is litter trained (but who likes to roam so there isn't too much cat litter!) and can be a bit wary of new people (swipes, rarely scratches but does swipe until he's used to you) so being ok with cats is a must! My dad pops in quite often and has a small, 8 year old female Jack Russell dog who is friendly. So being ok with dogs is also beneficial, especially as she sometimes stays over.
I am an Occupational Therapist and work 25hrs over 3 days a week, occasionally from home for all (rarely) or parts of the day. I also work 1 day a week as a freelance support worker for Zoielogic Dance Theatre, although this is ending in April. I am quite active in my evenings/days off but also like to be in at least 1-2 evenings a week (usually involving watching TV, maybe a bath and reading in bed) and will sometimes have a friend or 2 over, which is never loud nor late.
I am happy to chat and get to know you, and am equally ok with someone who prefers to keep them self to themselves. I'm the sort of person usually described as "quiet at first...until you get to know her!" What I will ask for is no loud music/TV etc noise, especially after 11pm. You're welcome to bring friends around but I'd like to know first and please no overnight guests.
I will clean and only ask that you keep the room in good condition and clean up after yourself (e. g. wipe down after cooking, put own dishes away, take bin out when see that it's full, replace toilet roll if it runs out etc), the occasional hoover/bathroom clean is appreciated. I am open to someone who needs the room Monday-Friday only (for instance) so do get in touch even if you don't need full weeks. The room is ideal for temporary stays and anyone needing the uni/hospital. My most recent lodgers were travelling and working as a locum at UHS (stayed 3months) and working as a nurse at UHS (stayed 7 months before getting married and moving in with new husband). I am looking to move so am putting the house on the market. Therefore, I am open to short term stays.
The house is in council tax band B.
I look forward to hearing from you!
