We're two friends who co-own a flat, looking for a lodger to take the biggest room. It has big bay windows overlooking the garden, with an amazing view of the sea and Beachy Head. Comes furnished, although we can remove most furniture on request. Has an open fireplace with wood burner as well as central heating.
We both work from home so to avoid things feeling too cramped our lodger must work outside the home, ideally 20+ hours a week, or generally plan to be out and about every week for a similar amount of time. We cannot make exceptions to this so please do not message us if you don't meet this requirement.
We have an elderly tortoiseshell cat called Machka and a Romanian rescue dog, Mara, who are both very friendly, so animal-lovers preferred! Because our dog cannot be left unsupervised around children, this room is not suitable for someone who would want to have kids visiting regularly.
You'll be sharing the communal areas (bathroom and kitchen) with Alex, a handyperson, whose living space is the two smaller rooms, and Ash, an academic and neurodiversity coach, who lives in an annexe at the bottom of the garden. Please note there is no shared living room.
The bathroom comes with a bath and overhead shower. The kitchen is equipped with washer-dryer, microwave, air fryer etc (although we don't have a dishwasher). You'll have access to most of the huge garden apart from the bottom end, which is just for Ash's use. There are no available parking spaces in our driveway at present, but there is always lots of free parking on the street.
The room is £550 per calendar month. Bills, which cover gas/electricity, water, wi-fi broadband, building service charge, weekly cleaner for communal areas, Council Tax (Band B) and TV licence, are split three ways and currently come to £211 per person.
We live pretty quiet lives and don't have people over often as we usually go out to socialise, and we'd like a lodger who also wants home to be a restful place. We both enjoy our hobbies: Alex is into painting miniatures, video games. playing guitar and anime; Ash plays piano and fiddle and sings, and loves reading, gardening, gigs, and wildlife watching. We'll be happy to cook the occasional communal meal or take you on country walks with our dog (and Ash would love some help with the garden!), and we'll also be respectful of your space and privacy as we value that ourselves.
If this sounds like your kind of living space, get in touch! We're flexible on move-in date as finding the right person is most important to us. We have had so many messages from people who have not read our ad, that we need you to give us an idea of why you would be a good fit in your first message, or we are unlikely to reply.
