I'm in a small hamlet which is about a mile from the village of Harberton, 3 miles from Totnes. It's a lovely, rural situation with fantastic views over the Devon countryside.
I've been here for 14 years, during which time, I've had a succession of lovely people lodging with me, many of whom I'm still in touch with. The room has an ensuite shower and bedding is provided if you need it. You also have use of shared areas - a farmhouse kitchen and living room.
I'm here with 2 cats and a hen, and have 2 other rooms that I use for occasional B&B and short-term lets. I'm a pilates instructor and run classes from my studio in the garden so I'm here a lot of the time. I lead an active life - gardening, walking, swimming and cycling and socialising locally. In the term time I teach classes 4 evenings a week, apart from that, evenings are generally quiet, with friends round for supper occasionally.
I enjoy sharing my space, but this is a peaceful place, and works best for people that have a routine and keep regular hours. I can offer some flexibility about length of stay, but this is not suitable for someone looking for a long-term arrangement. It's most appropriate for a student, someone looking for a stepping stone to somewhere else, or in the area for a fixed amount of time. It would also suit someone wanting somewhere to stay during the week and I'd be happy to negotiate a rent reduction if this was the case.
People have managed here without a car, but it is a 1 mile walk to the nearest bus stop in Harberton where there are 2 buses a day and 2 miles to Harbertonford where there is a more frequent bus service.
I have now let this room from 23 May, but please get in touch if you're interested in a short term let up until then.
