I'm seeking a lodger for either 3 or 4 nights a week Monday-Thursday inclusive.
The location is great for commuters - only a few minutes’ walk from Canterbury West station and a pleasant 15-20-minute walk up to University of Kent
The apartment is on the top (2nd) floor of a converted grain mill. It's a loft-style apartment, full of character and light, with two bathrooms. The lodger's double bedroom has a very comfortable double bed with a good quality memory foam mattress. I’m open to discussing how the bedroom is configured. It’s on a mezzanine floor, which has some lowish beams, so you need to be okay about ducking these if you're over 5'4". I'm 6'1" and have managed this fine for 15 years.
I can only consider lodgers with a verified Spare Room account, references, and who don't work from home. You would provide your own food and, though we may choose to share a meal, there's no expectation either way. We just need to clear up after ourselves and keep the place tidy. LGBTQ+ lodgers are most welcome, as are lodgers of any ethnicity/nationality though we'd need to be able to communicate in English. There's no elevator, so would not suit someone who cannot walk the 42 steps up to the apartment.
I'm open-minded and friendly but it's not a party house as I work long hours and we also need to be considerate towards neighbours. Some days and many evenings I work from home, though in a separate study. This means I'm often not available to socialise with a lodger and the living room remains available for use. I'm a film lecturer, so my job means I sometimes need to choose what to watch on the living room TV, which is wired through an amp to speakers because sound is as important as image!
I'm fine with vaping in the apartment but smoking is prohibited in the building, so smokers must go outside for that.
If you're looking for three nights per week, the cost is £30 per night / £390 per month with a £390 deposit.
If you're looking for four nights per week, the cost is £28 per night / £485 per month with a £485 deposit.
We would sign a Lodger's Agreement with a 28-day notice period for each of us.
