A friendly, very welcoming house in a quiet, unique residential street in Hove offers a light, airy, spacious double bedroom

The bedroom is east facing, with some basic furniture. It has good storage space and shelves and is a very quiet space in the house.

The house itself is part of a very old, landmark street in Hove. The kitchen isn't extremely modern but it is fully equipped (pots, pans, cutlery, crockery etc) and is very regularly the focal point for the social aspect of the house, (we like cooking).

The communal areas in the house are not very glamorous, more functional than pretty, but we do have some improvements planned before the new tenancy starts. We are hoping to have them done in time for our first viewings (the weekend of 3rd/4th of October).

However, we hope that if these are not completed in time, viewers are able to look past the shabby bits and imagine themselves being happy and comfortable here. We feel the price represents very good value for money.

Would really suit a foreign student (I'm multi-lingual and an English Teacher) available for single occupancy (£550 per month). Unfortunately, due to the size of the kitchen/shared facilities, we aren’t able to consider couples.

The new Tenant would also be expected to share the household bills:

Typical bills per month/per resident (based on one person occupancy):

Gas £40 per person (winter)
Electricity £35 per person
Broadband £11 per person
Council Tax £56 per person
Water £25 per person
TV License £5 per person

BILLS ARE GENERALLY NO MORE THAN £150.00 Per Person monthly

The room is available from the 1st of October and we'll be organising viewings over the next few weekends.

We are not excessive about cleanliness, but we do expect a new tenant to play his/her part in maintaining good hygiene in communal areas (kitchen and bathroom).

A little information about the tenants who will be remaining in the house. I’m David, the ‘lead tenant’, an English language teacher who works from home teaching international students online.

I consider myself calm and easy-going, as is our other tenant, Esther, who occupies the upstairs part to our property, a special needs education professional.

I would say that both of us are quite independent, so it wouldn’t be fair to describe the house as having a party atmosphere, but we are both engaging and appreciative of the support that people living together can offer each other: we consider ourselves a happy, friendly household, and there are absolutely no restrictions on applicants that we would consider, although no pets are allowed.

If you are interested in the room, please let us know and we will arrange a day/time.

Using previous experiences as a guide, we are expecting a lot of replies. We will reply to everyone, but please bear with us as we organize the viewings, as it’s always a little complicated.

We look forward to meeting you, and who knows, maybe you are our next housemate!!
