I'm looking for a considerate, non-smoking person to rent a clean, cosy single room in a peaceful home, with the beautiful Downs right across the road. You’ll be sharing with me (the owner), and one other lodger.
Being near the universities and the Downs, the room would suit a mature or postgraduate student, a university staff member, or a nature lover. Someone who's happy to say hello and sometimes have a chat, but that has an independent life. (Not suitable for people with lots of kitchen equipment, or other things that don't fit into their bedroom).
You're someone who's not a night owl (usually in bed by midnight during the week), is happy to respect quiet time after 22.30, will promptly clear up after yourself, keep communal spaces clean and tidy, and keep your room clean. Ideally, you'd work or study outside the home at least 3 days a week, and are pescetarian, vegetarian, or don't cook much meat at home.
The room is available from 1st April. Short let considered, or for three months initially, with the possibility to extend. The rent includes all bills and fast WIFI.
The room gets the sun in the morning. The desk is 45 x 80cm, and the chair height can be adjusted. There's a sturdy clothes rail, with a shelf above (fits a large suitcase) and drawers beneath, two under-bed drawers, more drawers, and small cupboards. The hooks on the back of the door are useful for hoodies, jackets, scarves and bags.
There’s a gorgeous view from the back of the house, and a strong shower (no bath). Outside, there's decking, patio, a pond and garden, it's lovely in the summer.
You can lock your bike to the front of the house, and there are bike lanes down into town, and up to Falmer. There’s free on-street parking (uncontrolled Zone D).
The beautiful Downs, with nature and sea views, are right across the road. It's a 2-minute walk to the corner shop, post office, pub with beer garden, and the #49 bus into central Brighton.
The Moulsecoomb campus, Lewes Road’s many buses, and Moulsecoomb train station are a short walk down the hill. Moulsecoomb train station links to central Brighton, Falmer and Lewes, and is not a mainline station.
From Lewes Road, it’s a quick bus ride south into town, or north to the Falmer Campus. The #25 bus runs all night, to get you home after a late night out at the weekend.
I’m a friendly pescetarian, work office hours, mainly from home, and like to get out several nights a week, and at the weekend. I enjoy singing, parkruns, and getting outside when the weather’s nice.
If you'd like to find out more, please get in touch, telling me a bit about yourself.
