The area offers some really great opportunities for those starting out on their journey in Edinburgh, with some great places for you and your new flatmates to explore as well as having easy access to your University buildings.

The accommodation is surrounded by great amenities including a Lidl (literally right outside) and large Tesco (including a Costa) less than 2 minute walk from your front door.

The accommodation is also well connected by the public bus service. The number 8 bus will take you to University of Edinburgh’s central campus in 20 minutes. A further 20 minutes on the same bus will take you to King’s Buildings and the bus route ends at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The number 23 and 27 also service these areas. Young people aged 21 and under, and who live in Scotland, can get a free bus pass. You can use this on most bus services in Scotland. You can apply for an under 22s bus pass online or through Edinburgh Council. For more information about the under 22s bus pass scheme, visit freebus. scot.

There are a variety of coffee shops, bars and bakeries in the immediate area. A short 10 minute walk will take you to Broughton Street which is lined with bars and restaurants for all budgets. At the top of Broughton Street is the Omni Centre which includes a Vue cinema. Next door to the Omni Centre is the Playhouse Theatre, one of the UK’s largest theatres. A further 10-minute walk will take you to Princes Street, the centre of Edinburgh.

Behind the Playhouse, sits Calton Hill with some absolutely stunning views across the city. A 10-minute walk from your door lies the Royal Botanic Gardens, an oasis of calm with more incredible views across Edinburgh. The Water of Leith is also close by which offers a walk along the river that runs for 22 miles, ending in the Port of Leith.

And, if you fancy buying some local produce, the Stockbridge Market runs every Sunday only 15 minutes’ walk away, a great place for foodies and art lovers.
