The location is the real star here. The flat is on Deanhaugh Street, moments from Stockbridge’s cafés, pubs, restaurants, independent shops and weekend market, while the New Town and city centre are within easy walking distance.

The bedroom is compact, but very functional, with a surprising amount of storage, including a wardrobe, drawers and overhead cupboards. Best of all, you have your own private en-suite with a shower, so there is no waiting around for the bathroom in the morning.

The shared living and dining room is bright, comfortable and full of natural light. It is a lovely space for having dinner, watching something or simply collapsing after work. The galley kitchen is genuinely tiny, so this is definitely more charming city-centre flat than sprawling luxury kitchen. You would be living with my friend and coworker Bingling, who works at Harvey Nichols Edinburgh. He is genuinely lovely, considerate, tidy and very easy to share a home with. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and queer-friendly, with plenty of respect for each other’s space.
