My housemate, and friend, of the past 4.5 years is moving out to live with a workmate. I'm looking for a relaxed, like-minded person to replace him.
Rent and bills combined works out as £625 each month.
The current rent is £850 a month or £425 each. I take care of all the bills for the property. It currently stands at £200 per person for all bills (council tax, internet, gas/elec, water).
I rarely need to adjust the bill share, but if anything went up, I'd let you know and adjust things accordingly. But I doubt this will happen as bills have been pretty static for the past few years.
The spare room is on the upper floor of the terraced property. The bedroom is unfurnished, but the rest of the house is furnished. Ryan, my current housemate, has a King-size bed, a wardrobe, and a desk with a chair in his room currently. The room can be decorated. You can paint the walls, put up shelves, and hang art. There is also attic storage if you need it. I'm working on getting some updated photos of the space, once he's had a chance to tidy his room.
Around the rest of house there is a cosy foyer, living/dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. The bathroom has a bath and shower unit. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer and washing machine. There is a concrete backyard patio, although it is a little overgrown at the moment. The house had an eco-fit out about 2 years ago so retains heat in the winter and has solar panels to keep energy bills down.
The property is roughly the same distance from town (Nottingham centre) as it is to West Bridgford. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the riverside with a gorgeous park at the end of our road. Tram and Bus links are within minutes of the front door, and if you like walking, it only takes 15-20 minutes to walk into town and under 10 minutes to the train station.
I'm hoping to find someone that is easy going and open to my slightly unorthodox set up.
I'm a father to an 8-year-old who stays with me every other weekend. I also have two indoor cats. So any housemate would need to be okay with both the occasional child visit and sharing a house with cats.
As my son occasionally stays with me and I have indoor cats, i'm looking for someone laidback, relatively tidy, and that I can trust.
I try my best to keep the house tidy, but I'll admit i'm no neat freak. I'm neurodivergent (ADHD / BPD), so can be oblivious to things sometimes. But if you're the kind of person who can have calm, open conversations about things, we'll get along fine and resolve any issues quickly.
I'll stay out of your way most of the time as i'm quite busy with work/kid/etc but it would be nice to have someone around who I get along with and would be up for occasionally hanging out.
I'm left wing and socially engaged. I'm a bit of a geek. Love my gaming, scifi, anime, etc. Enjoy reading, listening to indie folk/pop music (Phoebe Bridgers, Noah Kahan, Frightened Rabbit), and watching the football. I also binge way too much TV.
I work from home at least two days a week, but tend to do this from my room. I work as a marketing officer for a company helping women-, minority-, neurodiverse, and LGBTQA+-owned businesses. We have high speed wifi, so if you work from home that's a perk. There are two desks downstairs that you could work from if you didn't want to work from your room.
If all of this appeals to you, I'd love to hear from you.
