Friendly French-English Family Home | Westgate-on-Sea | DBS-Checked Host
Hello! Bonjour! 🇫🇷
We are a friendly French-English household living in the lovely seaside town of Westgate-on-Sea, and we’re looking to welcome two female students into our home!
We’re hoping to offer more than just somewhere to sleep. We’d love to provide a warm, comfortable and welcoming home where you can feel part of the family while still enjoying your own space and independence.
🛏️ The Bedrooms
We currently have TWO bedrooms available:
* Smaller bedroom – £400 per month
* Larger bedroom – £550 per month
Both rooms come with all household bills, Wi-Fi and everyday groceries included in the rent.
You’ll also have access to a shared bathroom, a separate living room with a large TV and balcony, the kitchen and our garden.
Our house is spread over three floors. The available bedrooms and shared bathroom are on the middle floor, alongside the living room and balcony. My niece and I have our bedrooms on the top floor, while downstairs you’ll find the kitchen, an additional sitting area and a separate toilet.
As we are a female household and share bathroom facilities, we are looking for female students only.
🍽️ Food & Family Life
One thing that makes our home a little different from a traditional house share is that we don’t expect everyone to buy their own groceries and cook separately.
Everyday food and groceries are included in your rent!
You’re welcome to help yourself to food in the kitchen, prepare something yourself or join us when we’re cooking. We love sharing meals together, but there’s absolutely no obligation to eat with us or spend every evening socialising.
We want you to feel at home, rather than like a guest who has to ask permission for everything!
Of course, we also understand the importance of privacy, independence and quiet study time. You’re welcome to be as involved in family life as you feel comfortable with.
❤️ A Little About Us
I’m Audrey, a French mum of two daughters in their twenties who have now moved away from home.
My 19-year-old niece also lives with me and studies at the University of Kent in Canterbury.
We’re originally from France and speak both French and English at home, so if you’re learning French or simply enjoy being around different cultures, that could be a lovely bonus!
We’re sociable, friendly and enjoy making people feel welcome. I personally love baking homemade bread and making things such as soaps, lip balms and natural household products.
Our household is DBS checked, and we’re also happy to provide references from previous students who have stayed with us.
🐾 Our Furry Family
We’re a household of animal lovers!
We have three dogs, four cats and two outdoor dwarf rabbits – nine pets altogether! Many of them are rescues, and they’re all very much loved members of the family.
Our animals are friendly and accustomed to living together, so we’re looking for someone who is comfortable around pets and ideally enjoys their company.
The animals have access to the communal areas, but your bedroom can remain completely pet-free if that’s what you prefer.
🌊 Our Location
We live in Westgate-on-Sea, a lovely seaside town with a friendly community atmosphere.
We’re close to the beach, perfect for relaxing walks and getting some fresh sea air.
Our local high street has independent shops, cafés and charity shops, and we’re only a short distance from Margate and Birchington, where there’s plenty more to explore.
Although we’re not right next door to the universities in Canterbury, they’re accessible by public transport.
My niece travels to the University of Kent by bus regularly, with the journey taking approximately 45 minutes. We’re more than happy to help you understand the local bus and train routes.
🌸 A Home Away From Home
We know that moving away from home, particularly for the first time or to a new country, can feel a little daunting.
Our hope is to offer somewhere you can feel comfortable, welcome and supported, while still having the freedom and independence that comes with student life.
Whether you’d like to join us for dinner, spend an evening watching television, come along on a dog walk or simply enjoy some quiet time in your room, you’re very welcome.
If you’re a female student looking for a friendly, relaxed family home where bills and everyday food are included, we’d love to hear from you!
Please feel free to get in touch with any questions or to arrange a viewing.
